It must be the coolest thing in the world to be in a WIAC Fantasy League...I sure wish I would've been able to be a part of that...Imagine what it would've been like when Dworak and Melzer and Iserloth were around...wow

FF (or anyone else who may know) - What is the scoop on Scott Kelly, Saw him with a brace/cast on his left hand...what happened, how long is he out for?

Very Early Predictions...

1. Oshkosh - Talent is very good, chemistry and loss of Bryce Welch make it a tougher pick

2. La Crosse - Best Player, Good Coach, Can backcourt keep up?

3. Stevens Point - 1 Senior, 3 Juniors...any other year and this is a recipe for a .500 season at best...

4. Whitewater - Freund has to improve for WW to have a chance

5. Stout - Could've been #1 if not for the loss of the backcourt

6. Platteville - Flying with Goose Gossens

7. River Falls - I like the new coach, I like the new recruits, I suspect this will be a team that will improve a lot in the 2nd half of the season

8. Eau Claire - What's it going to take to get Gibby out?

9. Superior - Cobb / Hildebrandt and a whole bunch of guys who have no business in the WIAC

POY: (tie) Leonard Cobb SUP & Joe Werner LAX
COY: Ken Koebel LAX
ROY: Matt Moses StP

We should like Oshy, just like last year...however that turned out to be a bit more rocky than expected...

This should be a very interesting yeay, I think Oshy is on top, but after its really up in the air. It has been a rocky summer for several programs so I think there is a plateau of LaX, SP, WW, PV, and maybe Stout, and then EC & Superior in the rear.

I think some Freshmen will have impact roles on a few teams this year, and the guy to watch is Bryce Welch at Oshkosh. I think he become their #1 perimeter threat the second he hits that campus.

One other name worth noting as a bit of a sleeper is Matt Moses of Stevens Point...looked very strong as a senior last year, and will be among the most physical guards the WIAC has seen in awhile, although may get lost in the shuffle at SP as a Frosh

River Falls seems to be taking a slightly different approach in their recruiting this year, and as an RF fan I am kind of excited to see a different approach. I always have been a stron supporter of Rick Bowen, but you knew year in and year out what kind of kids were coming into the program, I think Berk is going in a slightly different direction which could pay some dividends for the Falcons.

also, if anyone has some info...any truth to the rumors that Jerrod Bucholtz of Durand might be leaving Viterbo to head for Fast Eddie and the Blue Devils???

Maybe they are not very different...I would still give the edge to Welch as I think he is a much better shooter than Moses, I also think he is a better ball handler and he runs a team a bit better. Moses had a tendency to shrink a bit in big games (see Randolph Sectional Game). However I still think Moses will be a good player for Point, there is no denying his physicality from a perimeter player. Welch is better right now, and potentially overall, but Moses is quite a player

Not that I am the biggest Point fan in the world....but, Matt Moses is a very good ballplayer, Parkside showed interest for a while, but his outside shot is not consistant enought. Moses is a big guard with a strong frame. He can get to the rim and can defend a guard or a forward. His outside shot is good if not consistant, this is a very different player than Bryce Welch...a comparable WIAC guy might be LeVon Crawford (althought not quite as athletic, but a bit stronger). Moses will rebound well from the guard spot, and I would expect him to see some minutes early in his career...a good grab for the Pointers

Gardow out at Mondovi after one year??? Anyone know that story?

Anyone who knows RB knows that he is one of the funniest guys around. I was lucky enough to spend about 4 years as a manager with Coach Bowen and he is one of the best mentors one could ever have..

I'm in for Oshkosh....Go TVD Go!!!

There are a few players I would take over Jahnke and Gibson....I do agree that Capelle is likely the best All-Around player in the WIAC....

Here are a few names worth mentioning

Joe Werner
Mark Gossens (maybe the most under rated player in the WIAC)
Melvin Williams
Terry Farmer (if given 35 min/night)
Hans Hoeg
Leonard Cobb

I would take all of these guys of Jahnke...and I would put Gibson in the mix with that group

Am a bit surprised that I am the first to put anything up on this one but, RF looked better than I thought they would last night. They actually played very good in the second half (and yes I realize that the intensity wasn't quite there on the Badgers part...but we take our plusses where we can get them). Biggest surprsie for me was the play of Zylstra. He looks to have added some good weight this offseason and got right in there against Buthch and Stiemsma. They will be weak at the point again...Scott Kelly looked slightly improved, and Hoeg and Kossoris looked alright. Not much off the bench. A great time, good seats (thanks whichever Badger fans didn't show up and make us go sit up in the 3rd balcony)..and just a whole lot of fun watching the Falcons play the Badgers.

That being said....Meglomanic...you have one thing right....the worst WIAC team of the past decade will appear this year, but it will not be the Falcons.
Without sounding like a complete "jack###" I would like an argument as to why EC will win more than 2 conference games this year (I'll give them one at home against Superior, and MAYBE RF).

I never said either one didn't rebound well...just that they weren't inside players, which was meant inspite of their size. I may have been a bit off on Krull...but Bauer (at 6-5 245) didn't manage to find his way near the hoop on the offensive side of the floor.

Krull may be on the border of the 1st team WIAC list this year...but I think it is a fringe at best. Plus it will be interesting to see how they play once teams start to key on them defensively....not saying they won't step up, but it will be worth watching.

Side Note: I have been indirectly following Bob Semling since he was at GB...the guy knows a basketball court

Bauer and Krull are good players...but neither were big bangers inside. Both seemed very content to hang on the perimeter and launch open 3's (because thier defenders were helping on JK and NB). I don't know if either will respond as the "go-to" guy for Point, I guess we'll see.

And a question, Isn't Shawn Lee hurt (hand?)? For some reason I thought he'd be out most of the year...correct me if I am wrong.

As far as the team gelling my WIAC tourney time....won't every other team in the league gel by them too? or do you all have some special gel in Point....if there is any extra of that NCAA title gel send some my way...i'll give it to my high school team!!!

Point is rough shape this year...no one seems to get this...look out for Stout, they will be a dangerous team, especially at home. They didn't lose anyone and you never know who Fast Eddie will be bringing to campus. I think Oshkosh will win, but I'll be cheering for the Blue Devils (unless my Falcons make a run)
