Multi-Regional Topics / Conference Tournaments 2016-17
February 12, 2017, 02:44:41 AM
Hey Pat/Gordon/Dave do you want a start a new thread for 2016-17??

The NESCAC concludes their regular season Sunday with 1 game (Williams @ Bates).  Seeds 1 (Tufts), 2 (Middlebury), 3 (Amherst), 4 (Wesleyan) & 5 (Trinity [CT]) are set and locked with the rest of the tournament field set and locked as well: Bates, Hamilton & Williams will be the other 3 teams competing with the first 5 for the auto, pool A bid.  A Bates win puts Bates (6), Hamilton (7) & Williams (8) while a Williams win will leave Williams (6), Bates (7) and Hamilton (8).  First game are on campus sites 2/18; semifinals and finals are on the site of the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals Saturday 2/25-Sunday 2/26.

The NESCAC tournament is set:

#7 Bates (15-9, 4-6)
@ 2/18 2:00 PM
#2 Middlebury (22-3, 8-2)

#6 Williams (17-7, 5-5)
@ 2/18 2:00 PM
#3 Amherst (17-6, 7-3)

#5 Trinity (CT) (15-9, 6-4)
@ 2/18 3:00 PM
#4 Wesleyan (19-5, 6-4)

#8 Hamilton (16-8, 4-6)
@ 2/18 2:00 PM
#1 Tufts (19-5, 8-2)
Semifinals 2/25 at the highest seed remaining after the quarterfinals.
Tufts, Middlebury & Wesleyan should all be NCAA tournament teams no matter what happens in the quarterfinals or the rest of the NESCAC tournament.  The winner of Amherst/Williams will probably get added to that list as well (more so Amherst than Williams).  The loser of Amherst/Williams will be squarely on the pool C bubble, but Amherst is probably in better shape than Williams is.  The other 3 teams (Bates, Hamilton, Trinity) have no realistic pool C chances and need to win the automatic bid to get in.

Multi-Regional Topics / Conference Tournaments 2015-16
February 14, 2016, 08:38:42 PM
So, we have our first conference tournament set for the 2016 season: Pat, feel free to start a new topic for this year if you want!

NESCAC (first round @ higher seeds 2/20; semifinals and finals at the highest seed remaining after the quarterfinals 2/27-2/28):

#8 Colby (16-8, 4-6) (60)
@ 2/20 3 PM
#1 Trinity (CT) (18-6, 9-1) (71)

#6 Williams (15-9, 5-5) (71)
@ 2/20 4 PM
#3 Tufts (19-5, 7-3) (77)

#7 Bowdoin (12-10, 4-6) (76)
@ 2/20 4 PM
#2 Amherst (20-4, 8-2) (83)

#5 Wesleyan (18-6, 5-5) (74)
@ 2/20 3 PM
#4 Middlebury (14-10, 6-4) (86)

Semifinals & finals 2/27-2/28 @ Trinity:

#4 Middlebury (15-10, 6-4) (70)
@ 2/27 2 PM
#1 Trinity (CT) (19-6, 9-1) (58)

#2 Amherst (21-4, 8-2) (86)
vs. 2/27 4 PM
#3 Tufts (20-5, 7-3) (83)

#4 Middlebury (16-10, 6-4)
vs. 2/28 12 PM
#2 Amherst (22-4, 8-2)
Trinity & Amherst are locks, and Tufts is almost a lock as well.  Middlebury isn't getting a pool C, so, so far bubble teams are still OK.  If Middlebury wins Sunday however...

Hey Pat, are you going to create a separate thread for conference tournaments this year like you did last year, or should we post all results on this thread??

Region 2 men's basketball / Little East Pick 'em League
November 01, 2014, 06:03:10 PM
Pretty much going to work the same as the other pick 'em league groups (WIAC, CCIW, etc).  Only thing different is that the LEC will incorporate out of conference games as well as regular season conference games.  Out of conference games will include all LEC teams as well as select national games as well.  Only games currently on the schedule will be included, so no tournament games.  Week's will run from Monday to Sunday.  If there are any picks for Monday I will let you know in advance, but almost all weeks will have selections for Tuesday.
For those posters unfamiliar with how the LEC schedule works: They play conference games Tuesday's and Saturdays.  Outside of 1 day in December and 2 days in January all 8 teams all play on the same day so no bye's, and after January when LEC play starts for good teams only play Tuesdays, Thursday (OOC games) and Saturday.  You can change your picks as much as you want, but only edited picks on your original message will count.  Any other questions, let me know.  With that out of the way, here's the schedule for week one (November 15-16): Not that it has any meaning on this year, I'll include last seasons record in the opener.

Week one:
Out of conference (each worth 1 point):

November 15:
Spalding (19-8) @ Oglethorpe (21-7) 12:01 AM
Brockport State (24-4) vs. Rhode Island College (20-9) (@ Marymount) 1:30
SUNY-Canton (9-13) vs. Fredonia State (6-19) (@ Allegheny) 2:00
Colby-Sawyer (14-11) @ Plymouth State (13-14) 4:00
Salem State (17-9) vs. Staten Island (28-3) 4:30 (@ UMass-Dartmouth) 4:30
Johnson State (6-20) @ Keene State (8-17) 5:00
Newbury (3-22) @ Eastern Connecticut (23-7) 5:00
Trinity (CT) (15-11) @ UMass-Dartmouth (16-11) 6:30
Medaille (14-12) @ Buffalo State (12-13) 7:00
Southern Maine (7-19) vs. Anna Maria (9-17) (@ Connecticut College) 8:00

November 16:
St. Mary's (MD) (19-8) @ Eastern Mennonite (17-11) 4:00
Randolph-Macon (20-7) @ Mary Washington (25-6) 4:00
Hartwick (18-10) @ Oswego State (17-10) 6:00
Staten Island (28-3) @ UMass-Dartmouth (16-11) 6:30
