Norse lost all four games to Loras and the Hawks lost all three to Indiana. :(  It was fun getting free baseball on the various channels on Directv this weekend, but that was about it.

Luther plays Wartburg today and Knop probably won't pitch since he threw on Sunday.  It feels like the Luther ship isn't sunk, but is currently taking on too much water.

Luther lost game 1 today to Wartburg, 2-1. >:(  Wartburg had one hit the whole game but pushed across the 2nd run in the 6th after 3 Knights were hit by pitches and one Knight walked.  Wow!

Congratulations DuHawks!  Walk-off Grand Slam!  I hope that the ball goes into the Loras Trophy Case.

The preseason polls seem pretty accurate so far.  I still wish each team played three games against every school like it was when Cornell was in the league (and how the Big Ten does it).

For the first time in many years the Hawkeyes are having more success in baseball than the Norse.  The Norse have had a lot of games that they could have won, but they haven't pitched well enough overall for much of the first half of the season (they maybe haven't even hit that well in the last two weeks).  They also haven't always taken advantage of situations as Simpson had 15 errors this weekend and yet the Norse and Storm split the series.

Briggs, Rojer, and especially Knop have had good seasons for the Norse!

B.V. looks like the class of the league IMO, but Wartburg and Loras are right there with a shot to win it.

Norse beat St. Mary's today in a non-conference game (been a while since they played outside the league), 11-7.  Briggs was 3-4 with 3 RBIs as he has had a nice senior year in CF for Luther.

I actually have the ball in my glove compartment.  That was my son.  Pretty cool day.

That Rojer kid is a beast!

Loras blew a huge opportunity in game one yesterday.  Norton with a three hit gem.  Loras outhits Wartburg 7-3 and runs themselves off the bases.   Now tied with Central for third.

Good luck to the Duhawks the rest of the way.  The Norse-Duhawk games I saw a couple weeks ago were on the computer, but there were some pretty crazy momentum swings in the series.  The game that Rojer drove in 5 but Loras scored 11 in the 6th might have been the most painful.  I remember the Norse Defense let one of the lower scoring games get away, but Loras looked like the better team.

With recent news that Cedar Rapids, and the IIAC will be hosting 4 baseball national championships, I thought I would dust off this old thread.  Maybe Floyd in Iowa City will see this and join in again!

I have been  surprised with Dubuque.  It is good to see that Luther is hanging in after their break through season last year.  The IIAC is getting tougher.
