According to Austin Peay's website Andy McCollum, an Austin Peay State University alumnus who was a member of the school's only Ohio Valley Conference championship team, has withdrawn for consideration as the Governors next football coach last Saturday.  UWW's Leopold is be interviewed this Thursday and 5 others are still under consideration.  Leopold is the only one with HC experience the rest are D1 assistants including Austin Peay's defensive coordinator.  Will be interesting if LL is offered will he leave WW.  He will go from being a big fish in small pond to being a minnow in the ocean.  Could not find any salary info for the HC position they are paying assistant's 35-50K with what he is making at WW and I doubt it would be a huge rise in pay.  He would have D1 HC experience on his resume if he wanted to climb the coaching ladder in the future.  I hope he stays cuz P-ville hasn't beaten a LL coached WW team :)

Interesting - they didn't say why he withdrew did they?   I thought he had one of the strongest resumes.

Because he mistakenly thought it was the Austin (Texas) job he was applying for...not Austin Peay.  :)

From the Article:
"...and no one has won more in Division III than Leipold over the last six years."

From 2007-2012
UWW  79-5
MTU    86-4

Fact is that UWW won more National Championships in that time periond (4-2) so I guess that it depends on the author's definition of "won more."
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

UWW played a tougher schedule- so the victories count for more.  ;D

Wow- I had no idea AD's made this sort of dough:
From Twitter:
It pays to be an FBS athletic director: Analysis of AD salaries
, Florida - $1,233,2504. Barry Alvarez, Wisconsin - $1,230,0005. Shawn Eichorst, Nebraska - $1,123,0006. DeLoss Dodds, Texas - $1,109,0417. Gene Smith, Ohio State - $1,099,0308. Jack Swarbrick, Notre Dame

Btw- Shawn Eichorst is a UWW guy- great for him.

Yeah, but their supposed underlings (football and men's basketball HCs) make several times as much! :P

I'd imagine there would be some problems when those you are the 'boss' of earn 3-4 times your salary.  (Of course, it happens it pro sports all the time where many athletes make several times as much as the coaches/managers they are supposedly listening to. ;))

I hope Lance does stay in WW for at least this season. Last season was a tough one in many ways and I'd love to see him lead UWW back to the Stagg one more time before leaving- it would solidify an already impressive resume. UWW has the defense to do it this year if the offense can show improvement.

Do you see why D-I schools don't want to pay student-athletes a stipend? Where would they find the money? Hmmmm....

This close to spring practice and with a significant amount of recruiting time lost whoever ends up at Austin Peay has got their work cut out for them.  They're going to have to hit the ground running.

If the reports are true and IF it's a job Lance would have wanted it's unfortunate for him.  I certainly won't mind having him around a while longer though.

If it's true that LL was overlooked (again), it looks like UWW dodged another bullet.

It should be an interesting year for UWW. They should have the same dominant defense, but the offense is a huge question mark. Just like last year.
