Wow -   Wow  -  Wow, Wow, Wow

Maryville 86  Mo Bap 83 in ot

So much to tell about - obviously from the Maryville point of view  -  but first - this was just a great totally intense game for both teams - the officials established that anything goes around the basket, and the game was totally physical, but BOTH teams played clean  -  hard hits, but pick em up and no smart guy talk  -  it was the way two good guy teams should play.

Maryville won with terrific 3 point shooting from Mike Turpin (7 3 pointers) and Ben Hebl, the heart of a lion from Steve Bash -rebounds and hoops around the basket, an unbelievable effort from Tim Elwell aginst Mo Baps very strong point guard, and strong efforts from unsung frosh Aaron Steinke (looking like a real college player for the first time) and soph Ben Arand (experimental point guard).
Note no mention of Ryan Klein and Matt Regan, both of whom were saddled with fouls most of the game.

Mo Bap jumped out to an early lead, Maryville caught em, and Mo bap went back ahead by 5 at half.  Maryville was up 5 by with a minute, but a 3 pointer by Mo bap, and out of control charge by MU, and 2 foulshots tied it with 30 seconds. MU didn't score and Mo Bap had the ball with 4 seconds left, but couldn't get a shot off.  Huge 3 by Hebl, a fast break layup, a couple of crucial Fts by ? and it was an MU win.  Nice crowd in a limited seating situation - great atmosphere.

beav -welcome, great writeup - hope we'll hear from you often.  I know what you mean about the inconsistancy Blackburn is showing - I've seen lots of it from Webster and Maryville too.   I really feel that the conference race could go any direction, so January/February should be a blast.  Maryville's experience should rate them a favorite, but as you say, if Blackburn, Webster, Mac, Fontbonne bring there A game, they are all capable of challenging too.  If Maryville doesn't pull away, I think the winner of the conference could have 4, maybe even 5 losses.  Looking forward to Blackburn - Maryville matches-  Djedovic kills us!!!

Well we may have found (accidently) one of the worst men's teams in the country, in Unity College, who played Maine Presque Isle and Maine Maritime this weekend.  they lost to Maine Maratime 73 - 23.  Maratime has beaten Unity twice, by 50 and 40, and not beaten anyone else, tho several of their scores have been competitive.  We struggled to find the Maine Presque Isle vs Unity score, and it finally appeared today.
Maine PI  103  Unity 49.
MAine PI entered the game 0-7, and were averaging a losing margin of over 40 points per game.  Unfortunately, Unity is not D3, so we won't follow them, but if anyone does see a score, these pages are where to report it!!!

Anyway, Maine Presque Isle graduates from our winless list, moving to our winless vs D3 list.

Point Special   Undefeated and winless means TOTALLY undefeated and winless.  The 2nd catagories mean undefeated against D3, but with a loss outside of D3 (ie to NAIA, or D1, D2), and winless against D3, but with a win against a non D3.

Hope that explains... I'll track teams that fall off the lists and list couunt each day, and print updated lists after each weekend.  We had fun with it last year, and I enjoy following and compiling the lists.

Not much activity with our undefeated or winless lists.

One team fell off the undefeated vs D3 list last night, Baruch losing by 3 to Kings Point.  Interesting result, in that the two teams appear to be the leading contender in their respective conferences  -  the CUNY and SKY

Current count
Undefeated  17
Undefeated vs only D3  12
Winless  20
Winless vs only d3  14

amusing story regarding Presque Isle   - I emailed the AD asking for the weekend scores yesterday  -  no response;  so today i emailed his Admin assistant  -  she responded immediately that she forwarded my request to..... the AD.  Had to reply that I had already tried that direction with no result.  Funny  no result from her request either.   I tried the coach late this afternoon....    no SID listed.

bouttime - I see you are new to D3hoops, and likely a CMU fan, and as I am a former Pittsburgher, from way back - I'll give you my 2 cents worth.  CMU will slowly climb as they continue to win.  The win over Bethany means little - Bethany is not doing as well as they did last year, and with the way they failed in the tourney last season, have received little recognition as being a quality opponent.  The win AT Union, I personally think, was a QUALITY win, one that should earn CMU additional votes.   Having gone to RPI myself, with UNION the big rival, I know that Union is year in year out a solid program, and tough to beat at home after a 500 mile road trip.  Wonder why CMU didn't play RPI up there rather than Skidmore  (Mike Griffin, the RPI coach is a former Pittsburgher) .
A loss to Princeton (my assumption) shouldn't hurt CMU's quest  -  what things will really come down to is how CMU performs agianst the traditional UAA powers such as Wash U, Rochester, and NYU
