Yep...need to be able to run some clock with a lead. It's baffling how we struggle to run the ball with such a potent passing attack. Do we not work on run blocking or not have offensive linemen that can get a push?

Frank with a spring update on the Johnnies:

https://gojohnnies.com/news/2024/3/21/st-cloud-orthopedics-feature-motivated-johnnies-ready-to-begin-spring-football-practice.aspx

For the Johnnies to progress they need to get better on defense. Stats below are SJU defensive stats against Trinity, UWW, Augs, and GAC...need be better at getting the opposing teams offense off the field.

Trinity:
31 points, 438 yards total offense, 65 rushing, 373 passing, 1 punt, Total Offensive Plays SJU 61, GAC 66

UW-Whitewater:
56 points, 513 yards total offense, 280 rushing, 233 passing, 3 punts, Total Offensive Plays SJU 71, GAC 66

Augsburg:
24 points, 405 yards total offense, 170 rushing, 235 passing, 1  punt, Total Offensive Plays SJU 54,  GAC 79

GAC:
38 points, 465 yards total offense, 112 rushing, 353 passing, 2 punts, Total Offensive Plays SJU 58, GAC 82

Averages against the four opponents...not good!
37.25 avg points, 455.25 avg yds, 156.75 avg rushing, 298.5 avg passing, 1.75 punts

Kind of reminds of Josh Parks getting blasted at the goal line a few years ago....not really but just wanted to take a cheap shot.

I really like the planter box you have at the end of your driveway Faunch  ;)

In all seriousness, what actual power/recourse do the neighbors have to prevent this arena from being built?

Mi casa is about 2.5 to the southeast of that.
The neighbors likely have no recourse...I totally understand why they would be pissed. Yes the University was there when they bought their house...but it wasn't a Division 1 institution with a 5,500 seat arena. They wanted to build it down by the old Ford plant site...that's a little close to home and I wasn't too thrilled with the idea. It could have made a trip to the new Lund's and Byerly's a pain in the butt.
Cretin Ave and Summit are extremely busy residential streets and there will be events that arena 20-25+  weekends a year (minimum). That said the only games that will likely sell out will be men's basketball and hockey. I checked U$T women's hockey box scores for games at SCSU and MSU and those games barely draw 300 fans.

Want to venture a guess what was the only tap beer selection at the Butcher Shop?

I'll bet it was brewed by a guy named Angus...

No idea...who was Angus?

First name was Bernhard...from Detroit.

Quote from: DuffMan on February 26, 2024, 03:16:18 PMPretty wild that there is outdoor baseball being played at SJU this afternoon!

In '91 we got a little over three feet of snow on Halloween night.  The school actually stopped classes for a day or two.  Dominos even stopped delivery.  We were fortunate that the cafeteria workers managed to get to campus somehow or we would have all mummified in the underclass dorms waiting for someone to feed us.
That Saturday a basketball team from Brazil was scheduled to play at SJU and then travel up to play in Moorhead or Fargo against either Concordia or one of the other colleges up that way. Their drive up I-94 took several hours and they apparently learned how to dig and push out other automobiles on the way up. Surprisingly the game was played on Saturday night in the Warner Palestra.

Their "exposure" to Minnesota and a northern climate must be something those guys never forgot.
SJU bought Bo Did's and served it in the Butcher Shop after the game. Unfortunately many of the SJU players didn't get the memo about Benedictine and central Minnesota hospitality and many of the sandwiches were eaten by SJU players before the guests arrived.  :-\

Quote from: DuffMan on February 23, 2024, 05:27:05 PMNot sure if non-SJU people saw this, but Syverson is returning at QB for SJU this season.  I'm glad to have a tested QB but can't help but feel for those those guys (Dittbenner, Downs) who are in line behind him.  I, for one, will be happy when all the "COVID years" are behind us.
I have moved feelings on Aaron returning. IMO he was our MVP...the entire offense ran through him. I know some Johnnie fans weren't always happy with his play which i don't understand.
He can really throw all sorts of balls.

I was wondering if Dittbenner was moved up to starter if we would see more of an RPO style of offense. The two teams in the Stagg Bowl both had quarterbacks that were multi-dimensional.

Offense won't be our issue next year....we need to be tougher on defense. The good offenses we played against last year had their way with us.
