It should be noted that Wheaton played a man down from early in the second half through two overtimes.

Forgot to mention, thank you Augie.

Albion College also undefeated through the first week at 2-0-1, including a come-from-behind 2-2 draw against Wheaton (Ill) last night. One could say the Britons would be disappointed not to come away with the win with some of the chances they had towards the end of the match.

Appreciate the insight lads. And wow firstplaceloser, busy is an understatement! Love that you say you'd do anything to do it again, sounds like an experience that really contains all of what we dream about as youngsters!

I wonder how Brandeis will prepare for the Final 4? Correct me if I am wrong D4 but a Coach would probably give the guys the Monday after the Elite 8 off and maybe practice Tuesday. So it might look like this

Monday(after elite 8)     Off
Tuesday                        Practice
Wed / Thurs / Fri           Off
Sat and Sun                  Practice
Mon                              Practice
Tues                             Practice Morning / Fly to NC
Wed / Thurs                  Should be allowed to Practice on Gamefield if not Practice elsewhere / plus a host of other NCAA commitments.

To me you want to get to the Final 4 site on that Tuesday night instead of flying out early Wednesday morning. Why? Because you do not want to get the guys up at 4am on Wednesday to get to the site and everyone will be tired and it might take a day to recover. Just does not make sense to me but with the site being in North Carolina this year it might be easier on East Coast teams to get flights rather than to San Antonio or KC. Also. the amount of commitments the teams have when they get to the Final 4 is not small. It is really hard to get a fully focused team training session when at the site IMO.

I was always curious as to the itinerary during the week leading up to the final four, especially with that week starting on the tail end of Thanksgiving. When are players required to return from Thanksgiving break? Do teams stay in the same hotels? Is there a tight training schedule each team follows on the same training pitch? What off-the-field commitments are there?

Maybe with someone with more experience could share? Firstplaceloser? Mr.Right?

North Park up 3-nil to UW Platteville inside the first 20 minutes. #40 for NPU pulling the strings with a goal and assist, very composed he is only a sophomore.

Did anyone else's broadcast just end (because we hit 10:00 p.m.)?! We were late kicking off and now this...ugh.

Yeah super confusing, heading to penalties I think?

WHAT?! Rowan couldn't find that ring they were looking for?  :-X

Thought it had been located and it was just a matter of chasing it down the hill.

LOL maybe they should've started smaller with a NJAC championship

Man that Matthew Koh for UChicago has some wheels... U of C down to Lake Forest 2-1 at halftime. Chicago the more creative and dangerous side, could have had 4 or 5 goals had they been more clinical. Think Chicago takes care of business in the second half.

1st round games to keep an eye on...
UW-P vs Westminster

I'm looking forward to doing the play-by-play for this match, as I haven't seen either side before and it'll be fun to work a match that'll feature a five-camera setup and replay at my disposal.

Video feed working for anyone else? Says the broadcast cannot be found, kickoff was set for 6pm eastern time

Is Rowan really Outshooting Cabrini 40-1 and it is 0-0 Heading to OT?

Thought that was peculiar as well. I guess they're counting blocked shots in that total....weaksauce.

University of St. Thomas survives the first round but will be without starting goalkeeper Aidan Hogan for tomorrow's contest. Hogan was sent off towards the end of the first half. Troy Louwagie is their second choice keeper who has only played 15 minutes all season prior to today. Needless to say, he didn't look entirely comfortable tending net in that second half.

Interesting match going on in St. Paul with UW Superior pulling within a goal with about 5 minutes to go. St. Thomas currently leads 4-3 with UWS applying the pressure.

Edit* - didn't realize St. Thomas is down to 10 men

Agree with firstplaceloser here, Stockton only have themselves to blame for not sealing the deal. To be fair, that Rowan bloke hit a nice ball, but you need to be mentally tough for 110 minutes, not 109 and change.

Bummer way to end your season but life goes on.

Men's soccer / Re: 2017 North Region

Thinking the bids for the North will shape up as such:

MIAC: St. Thomas should be coming away with the AQ by beating Macalester on Saturday. However, should the Tommies lose this match, I believe they will suck up the only At-Large bid the North will be receiving.

IIAC: Luther and Loras will battle for the IIAC crown. Can see the loser getting the Pool C At-Large if UST wins this weekend.

UMAC: They play their semifinals today, final on Saturday. Hard to see anyone other than St. Scholastica taking the AQ, UW Superior may have a shout. Whoever draws these guys in the tournament should go out and buy a lottery ticket. This conference will not receive a Pool C.

MWC: Semifinals scheduled to be played Friday, final on Saturday. Would love to see St. Norbert College remove all doubt and win the AQ, especially after the fantastic campaign they've had this year. SNC plays Lake Forest on 11/3 and Knox College looms in the other semifinal, so it looks like they've got their work cut out for them. This conference will not receive a Pool C.

Pool B: I assume UW Platteville takes this bid over UW Whitewater since they've been regionally ranked all three weeks and Whitewater has not. The two may be closer than I initially thought- UWP end at 11-3-2 with 0-2-1 (.167) RvR and an SOS of 0.561. UWW end at 10-6-4 with 1-5-2 (.278) RvR and an SOS of 0.565. Although the 10 blemishes of UWW versus the 5 blemishes of UWP might indicate your tipping factor.

To sum up, I see the North sending 6 teams to the tournament this year. In previous years it seemed that we've gotten 7 bids (4 AQ, 1 Pool B, 2 Pool C) but only when the North teams had strong seasons, and the West region received 1 less bid because of that. This year, the North is down and the West appears to be more down? down-er? Who knows what the committee will do with these two regions, maybe another Pool C will be tossed to a stronger representative out East. Thoughts lads?
