Here in the northeast we've got at least 3 significant D1 job openings - UMass, Fairfield U, and UConn. Are there any successful D3 coaches in the running for these spots?

You're missing a several like Alma....
Also please tell me your buddy from Chicago State didn't get the job at Peace. Would be a real shame honestly.

It appears that Illinois Wesleyan is open. Coach Barrett is going to Fairfield University in Connecticut.
I talked to a few coach friends who were at recruiting events yesterday. The conversation about IWU was all the rage. A few felt bad for the IWU assistants who were bombarded or were being talked around. I was told there was a lot of speculation of who may apply.

The position will attract some quality candidates. IWU is a good school with decent facilities and a good athletic department. The current team is solid with a lot of youth.
Is there any word on who the Illinois Wesleyan coach might be? It's going into the 5th week of being open. I would think that the candidate list has been narrowed and interviews are going on.
Noticed Concordia College and Lawrence University are now open.

Why all the silence?
From what I have heard on campus interviews for Illinois Wesleyan should wrap up this week. Have not heard much on who the candidates are . Reached out to a couple coaching contacts and no one has heard anything. Not really sure what to think.

I heard from multiple sources that the interviews are over and that there were some well-qualified candidates. I also heard that there were two candidates in particular that were being seriously considered for the position. That was a few weeks ago. With the spring fast approaching, and some kids going the D3 route still weighing options, albeit it is getting late, it would seem that IWU would want to make the announcement. I would also think that they would want to appease the current roster and give them a sense of what is going on. It seems like a good position for the right person and with a team that could again make the post-season next year.
Many candidates were eliminated weeks ago! They have their decision, but my guess for delaying the announcement is for budget reasons. Just a guess, so don't come at me too hard.

I can't come at you too hard because I don't know what you mean. By "budget reasons" I assume that you mean that IWU and the chosen candidate are negotiating salary and benefits. If that isn't it, "budget reasons" is ambiguous to me.

I've been told that the announcement was delayed because IWU's choice turned them down and took a job at Calvin, her alma mater:

So, are they back to square one?
Lawrence announced new coach hire.

Competitive would be a nice play to start.
It seems that their process was delayed because of IWU's spring break and the team's overseas trip. Sources indicate that IWU had candidates on this week and are hoping to make an announcement soon.

Any news on the Franklin and Marshall opening?
All sources indicate IWU to announce today.
Milikin open
Illinois Wesleyan has made their choice in Tony Dulak, who is coming to the Titans from Lynchburg College where he was the top assistant.

I read his bio. He's very well qualified and sounds like he'll be a good coach.

I've met Tony before. He's a quality hire. He is overdue for a top position in the D3 world. Great opportunity. Be on the lookout in a few years.
Who's in line for Macalester? What other openings are still...open?
Assistant seems like obvious choice at Mal.
CSI just hired.
Pine Manor, Wilkes, Wilson, Millikan, Bethany all open.

You missed Benedictine (IL)
They are transitioning to D2 at this time. They announced this in 2017 !

Both genders playing D3 schedules this year. So, no immediate transition.
Thomas More job is open again. The coach took an assistant job at Miami of Ohio.
Milikin hires away Wesleyan coach after just one season
The Wesleyan College coaching job in Macon, GA has been a quick turnover position. One prior head coach started there and is now the head coach at the Citadel. Wesleyan is a very small school and tough place to recruit, Millikin will seem like a large school for him.

She lasted what? A year? I feel bad for the kids there with this late timing.
With Thomas More going to NAIA I wonder if that will make the job more appealing or less appealing. NAIA schools can offer money but it puts a different dimension on the recruiting process. Also, it seems as if NAIA schools are seen as not being strong academically when compared to D3 schools. While it is true that the majority of D2 and NAIA schools are not the equal of most D3 schools for academics, there are exceptions and there are some solid academic choices.
This will be her 3rd school in 3 years, she will not be missed! TMC changed to Thomas More University after this past year and I think their ultimate goal is D2 in the near future, but I could be wrong.
Olivet College (MI) open again
Is there an update on Thomas More, Wesleyan(GA), or Carthage? Haven't heard much chatter on any of these openings.
No news on Thomas More!

In case it was missed, Benedictine has reversed course... they are not going to DII.
Also, it was announced in January/February 2018. It might have been rumored, but it all came together rather last minute in January of 2018.
To get this going again...
Newbury College is looking for a head coach now that Lindsay Garvey has moved to Anna Maria in the same role.
Eastern University is advertising a head coaching position
Not as many openings as there were this time last year.

I made a new thread for 2019 changes. A decent list I've found of openings. Added the hires as well.
