Let the discussions begin.

Once the brackets are released, you can pick 12 players to use throughout the tournament. There are restrictions, however.

There are 3 categories:
A - HOME teams (host teams for the 1st weekend)
B - AWAY teams (play the host the 1st round)
C - NEUTRAL teams (the other 2 teams in the pod)

You must use the same number of players from A teams (home) as B teams (away) and use the rest of your roster on players from NEUTRAL teams

Options
A teams/B teams/C teams
1/1/10
2/2/8
3/3/6
4/4/4
5/5/2
6/6/0

Once the Pool C teams are selected, you choose THREE Pool C teams to use throughout the tournament. Standard scoring applies. Seems pretty simple.

In this new league, all you have to do is pick the champion for each conference. That's it. You get one point for each conference winner you pick correctly. We will again NOT be using the C2C.

Conference champions will be determined by the top overall conference tournament seed (not including the UAA). If there are divisions and a top seed is not recognized, top division seeds will each get a point.

DEADLINE IS TUESDAY, OCTOBER 31.

Starting Monday, July 31, we will start the new league. In years past, we've done a pool where we pick 10 players not on the preseason All-American list. This year, we'll add a draft into the mix. Same concept, but any player is eligible to be drafted. As usual, you'll get points for your players you draft for Preseason All-American, post season All-Region and post season All-American teams.

Preseason All-Americans
5th team - 1 pt
4th team - 2 pts
3rd team - 3 pts
2nd team - 4 pts
1st team - 5 pts

All-Region 3rd and 4th teams - 6 pts
AR 2nd team - 7 pts
AR 1st team - 8 pts

AR POTY - 9 pts
AR ROTY - 9 pts

All-America HM - 10 pts
AA 4th team - 11 pts
AA 3rd team - 12 pts
AA 2nd team - 13 pts
AA 1st team - 14 pts

National POTY - 20 pts (changed from 15)
National ROTY - 20 pts (changed from 15)

There used to be a page on D3hoops.com dedicated to Buzzer Beaters, but understandably, it was hard to keep updated. It's tournament time, so now is a good time as any to open up a dedicated board.

Now with Twitter and YouTube and nearly all games online, I think it would be fairly easy to at least post links to the videos. I know there have been a few this year and since this is a new thread, we could post buzzer beaters from year's past as well.

Let's try to limit it to D3 men's or women's games, please.

Multi-Regional Topics / Wisconsin D3 Basketball Challenge
November 15, 2022, 06:48:34 PM
I wasn't quite sure where to post this, if I were going to post it at all. So, instead of posting where some may not care to read or post where it doesn't relate, I've decided to open a new thread, so if posters don't care, they don't have to read this specific board.

As some of you may know, there are 23 Division 3 schools in Wisconsin and I've decided to take it upon myself to try to attend a game at each school...in one season.

I have been posting on Twitter (@greektragedy08) and I created a public group on Facebook (Wisconsin D3 Basketball Challenge).

https://www.facebook.com/groups/650269139884255

I figured since this is a D3 basketball site, this may be the best place for people to follow my adventure. If you want to see pictures, you'll have to head to my Facebook public group or check out the limited number of pictures that are allowed on Twitter (apparently only 4 at a time?). It's cool to see the different gyms.

Obviously with the digital age, you can see these gyms in the comfort of your own home, watching online. However, there is something special in attending games in person, even if you have to pay $7 to get in and $3 for a soda.

To review to this point, I've been to 5 games, 3 in one day. It's interesting that I was able to make 3 games in 3 cities in one day because I wasn't even supposed to be in town last weekend. My original plan was to go to Bloomington to see Stevens Point take on Webster on Saturday and then play on Sunday, which ended up being IWU. Apparently I missed a great weekend of Pointer basketball.

It is a busy week if I make all the games I'm planning. In about an hour, I'll be driving down to Mequon to see the Concordia v Concordia matchup in the NACC. Tomorrow I plan to head west on Highway 23 to Fond du Lac to see Marian take on ranked Elmhurst. Saturday I'm planning on traveling to the capital to see the Pointers take on Edgewood.

Wish me luck, especially those trips to Superior, Northland and those far west WIAC schools.

Teams I've seen in person
Lakeland - NACC - 11/8/22
Lake Forest - MWC - 11/8/22
Ripon - MWC - 11/11/22
SNC - NACC 11/11/22
MSOE - NACC - 11/12/22

Here, we'll draft TEAMS for next year's tournament that did not participate in the NCAA tournament last season. Obviously there will be a lot less teams than players available, so depending on how many posters play, it may only be 8 rounds. Short and sweet. Start at the beginning of September.

You CANNOT draft these teams that were in last season's NCAA Tournament.

Pick-ems, fantasy leagues, etc. / Top 25 Draft League
August 07, 2022, 04:23:28 PM
So, while we're doing the Conference Champions League Draft, you can start studying for this league. Basically, we'll draft teams you think will be in the Top 25 and ORV throughout the year and we'll keep track of how many points you can accumulate each week. There were nearly 100 teams that gained votes last year in the poll, so there are plenty of teams to choose from. So, if you drafted RMC last year, you would've received 8612 points from them. Depending on how many posters participate, I'm looking at about 10 rounds. I probably won't start this draft until September.

**Check the Top 25 Pool page to see the season's results!

To avoid complete off-season boredom, I've created another draft league. Simple rules. We're drafting players for next season's NCAA tournament, but you CANNOT use any players on teams from the previous tournament. So, no players from RMC, Williams, CNU etc. In addition, aside from the brief FA period after the draft, adds and drops WILL NOT be allowed later in the year. So, you probably don't want to draft that senior who might come back. You won't be able to replace him...or any other player who does not appear on next season's rosters. Below is the list of teams from last season's tournament that you CANNOT USE. Happy hunting!

I'll start the draft at the beginning of May.

Um. I guess I deleted the previous league.

So, object is to pick 10 players NOT named to any of the preseason AA teams.

You get 10 players not named to the preseason AA. Then you get an additional player for POTY (this player can already be named to the AA team, but doesn't have to) and then a ROTY.

The only exception is your pick for National Player of the Year. ONLY that player CAN be selected from the preseason list. However, if you pick a player for POTY not on the preseason AA list, you basically gain a player...although POTY rarely doesn't come from the AA list.

So if you decide to pick a player for POTY not on the AA list, pick 10 players and then an 11th for POTY.
