Also as far as NESCAC allegiance goes mine lies with the three Maine teams, and I attend games for all three.  I am disappointed Bowdoin's success gained so little praise and seemed swept over on these boards (think Colby actually got more love), but that did not happen locally.

I think it is negative and overly dramatic yes but still very interesting, but reading these boards for a while I have learned to take all that with a pinch of salt.  Is CacStar really the first poster to do this?  Mr.Right has become some lovable grump, but if CacStar is negative then so is he, and many of us, me included at time I imagine.  Why be so sensitive to it?

NCAC

Simply found interesting perspective someone who has actually been there NCAC, like it or not we haven't.  Not sure why it touches such a nerve with you.

One question Cacstar?  Did you watch Colby last fall?  I love what they achieved and had Seabrook as my coach of the year pick, but your observation on their style is off base.  Not sure even the Colby players and coaches would claim that was true.

Fantastic post CacStar, look forward to your insight.  Would be interested in the best 11 you ever played with and against?

Every NESCAC team I have ever watched has a kid shouting while wearing an armband at the very least ;-)

Interesting question, I wouldn't know to be honest.  Would seem to me a combination, players asked for input and coach has final say.  I doubt players get final say anywhere.  What do you think?

FourMore, I had heard Savonen has transferred to UNH for the fall.  Guess we will find out in a month or so!

Also heard Tufts have transferred in a forward from Boston University.

I think there is certainly a midweek complacency in NESCAC teams on occasion.  When you are told you play for the most respected and powerful conference in the nation, it is inevitable a teenage kid may not look at out of conference games quite the same way all the time no?

Not to mention the classes.  There is a difference between playing on a weekend, and running straight from class to the locker room/bus for a game.

Was also at Bates game.  Fantastic cows and tai to say winter break had zero impact on attendance.

Game was tied as late as the last five minutes, but Edmonds from Wes going 5 of 6 from three pointers was frankly insane and likely the deciding factor in a good game.

Safford has a great career but in my opinion was outplayed by Boornazian multiple times down the stretch of the season.  Freshman Strickland who is a flashy ball handler will likely step in at point and I expect Bates to be very strong again next year.  The twins are a joy to watch, particularly on defense.

I think there is slim to no chance of Pool C, so home state pride has me switching to Bowdoin for the remainder of the season.  They are getting hot at the right time, and could go a long way.

Good video that gives your man Marpet some love.  Click play on the video for North team stars under radar;

COLBY 77 BATES 82

The weather and Valentines Day led to a serious lack of atmosphere in the Colby gym.  Noise wise the Bates bench was the most heard element in the building.

Bates built up a double figure lead and were comfortable throughout the first half.  Early in the second half they wobbled and a foul and technical led to a pretty unique four straight fee throws from Colby then possession, this sequence cut scow to 48-46.  With a packs crowd it could have been a rough spell for Bates, but thy responded with a run of their own and close game out.  Think thy led wire to wire.

After a poor performance at Bowdoin, Safford played well but nobody on the floor was outstanding.  Bates locks up a #3 or #4 seed.  Would love the historians in the group to confirm their best finish ever?  Certainly best I have seen.

I would predict Bates v Tufts in playoffs, and favor the Bobcats.  Colby stand little chance against Trinity in my opinion next week.

Thanks NothingbutNescac

Still a bit of a headache for me, but that clears up a good portion.  Pretty exciting last day, just took on the women's side and seems pretty clear cut over there.

Anyone know other info of recruiting classes in the league?  Seems pretty tight lipped.
