There is brotherhood in misery. Today we put aside our petty grudges and emotional caterwauling to suffer together. As only the metaphorical Charlie Brown’s to the Viking’s Lucy-like, ball snatching shenanigans can suffer.

Word.

On the contrary. I was planning on focusing on how trash the Johnnies are to deflect from my pain about the Vikings. I guess I'll tone it down a bit.

Back to SJU for Kurt!  :-*

I guess the big time SJU boosters have had it with Fasching after losing 7 of 9 to UST.

 :P

That's such an interesting picture -- Ramler at W&L.

One thing is for sure: He would want to change the offense.

Yes. Which wouldn't make me happy. But you don't dismiss a guy who played and coached under a legend, coached at a high academic school, and had success running his own program, quickly or easily. Those qualifications aren't just run of the mill resume fodder.

Unless he's already got the job, why would he already quit at Scholastica? He has to have something lined up (or else wants to get out of coaching entirely and go sell insurance or cars  for better money and life balance or something).

Pretty slow in here.
Shall we discuss the 2017 D3 football home* attendance rankings led by St Thomas or has everyone had enough fun with that on Twitter?
2018 and beyond will tell the tale if the 2017 season with a "Home" game played at Target Field was an outlier. If 2017 is not an outlier, then the Tommies will be either 1st or 2nd in attendance in 2018. If the "Home" game at Target Field was the overwhelming factor, then it will show up in the numbers. This whole debate is the fault of the SJU administration for allowing the game to be played at Target Field. It was a novelty and a fun experience, but make no mistake it should never be allowed to happen again. The Tommies sports marketing department won this big time.

I don't understand this type of thinking, why wouldn't SJU do it as well? Have the game there every year $$! SJU should want the Tommies to have it at a larger venue so they can outdraw the Tommies and essentially making it a home game for the Johnnies. Winning the D3 attendance stat is meaningless the only folks that look at that stat are the ones that won it. The only stat that counts is wins and losses. A larger venue only favors the Johnnies. Am I wrong here?
No you are not wrong. The Johnnie-Tommie bickering will at times supersede logic.

Probably something to do with losing the magic of the Natural Bowl filled with Johnnies and Tommies baking bread at the tailgate or whatever they do there besides drink a lot of beer.  ;)

Love the bickering comment! Maybe SJU would like to limit the number of their alums they lose in front of?  ;D

Generally I'd note that it should be Tommie-Johnnie, with the Tommies coming first since we won the game. However, the Johnnies are the clear winners when it comes to bickering and getting bent out of shape about perceived fraud by UST.

Absolutely it's an outlier unless we continue to move our Tommie-Johnnie home game to a bigger venue. The Tommies won big but I doubt SJU comes out looking too bad in it either. It's a fun little fact to throw out in recruiting and I don't think UST would be afraid to do it again, Target Field, CHS, Allianz or wherever. With or without St John's. Maybe the Bethel game in a few years?

Hey Pat Coleman...I'm not Fulford's lawyer. The Court Docket reflect that Max Haupt is his lawyer. That was a really stupid comment.
Cheap shot, Pat. That the best you can do? Take a cheap shot?

Jeff -- the statement UMU issued included your name and Max's name as contacts. If that wasn't true, you should have asked them to strike your name.

And to be fair the Alliance Review also had Jeff as the attorney. Hell it was even discussed on the board that Jeff was his attorney (and not by Pat) and according to every FRIGGIN' jack wagon working at the Mount physical plant and MOST of the fans at the pre-game W&L brunch "now he has Jeff as his attorney - he'll set em straight". In other words Lighten up Francis. Pat isn't the one to stir it up - that's for the rest of us.

As I am re-reading the articles I see a quote from Jakmides commenting on the case, but it actually appears to be as an outside "law expert opinion." Not seeing anything directly listing him as attorney but could see how that would easily be mistaken. Or maybe something that I am not finding that directly referenced that.

Surprised this has not been posted here yet. You guys are slipping.  ;D

So, St. Cloud State is now part of the MIAC? I think the piece is mislabeled.

Thanx for sharing!
Macalester too.  If it makes you feel better there were zero UMAC highlights, unless you count the Tommie hurdling the Eureka defender.

I thought I saw Northwestern in there a couple of times? Nothing from St John's beating Scholastica either?

FWIW, on twitter I replied to one of Keith's posts and said I thought Mount and UST were far and away the 2 best teams the Cru faced this season.  That isn't a knock on Brockport.  I just happen to believe the Tommies were the better team and the final rankings reflect that.

I saw that. Too bad I can't follow the whole threads since Frank blocked me  :o :o  :-X :-X :'( :'(

Interesting how two programs that both lost 24-0 to UMHB react totally different. The program with the rich tradition, that has been there before, says very little and anxiously awaits next season to prove themselves on the field. While the other seems to be happy with their 24-0 loss to the point of where they have talked themselves into believing with some "woulda, coulda, shouldas they should be National Champions. Reality check?  ::)

To be clear, I'm not sure it's actually Brockport folks that are upset about this. Frank is a general east supporter, but seems to subscribe to a conspiracy theory whereby Pat and Keith lead a cabal of voters intent on keeping the east region teams down.

SJU: 2 offensive touchdowns vs. St. Thomas and Mount Union combined.
UMHB: 1 offensive touchdown vs. St. Thomas and Mount Union combined.

Imagine the angst on the board if SJU had pulled a UMHB.

+k

I doubt you're missing much.

I love my drama Pat.

Thanks for all your hardwork! This just makes us even more aware and appreciative of the angst you get directed at you from all directions.

Well then.  Perhaps I should have stayed logged in longer this morning!  No real point in replying to those posts now, though.

Have a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, everyone.  I'll save a piece of coal for a certain someone's stocking.

How the heck do you still have 0 negative karma? You need to go say some good things about St Thomas on the MIAC board and get that balanced out, sir. It's just not right.

Heh, thank you (or whoever is responsible) for the negative karma!  Feels good to finally be rid of that glaring goose egg.   :)

Speaking of eggs, shame the Cru had one of their own this past weekend.

It wasn't me. But I'll take the blame for pointing it out and somebody else following up on it (I think the same could be said about Twitter right now).

You will have to try harder to earn -k from me.

Well, it appears that Hamline will have to solve their own issues. On to the next topic: Does anyone think Brockport is going to win tomorrow?

No. Will they keep it under a 30 point loss? Maybe. I think a 30-pt loss is more likely than them winning.

Yes and if that does happen (30pt+ Loss) Hopefully the selection committee won't give us any all east region brackets for a while.
The tournament was probably better off this year with an East Region bracket.  Del Val and Brockport got to play a competitive game  against each other rather than get blown out.  Anyone who understands a bit of how D3 playoffs work should understand the brackets are not fully seeded and advancing further doesn't mean you were a better team.
Based on the outcry from the East region people on facebook/twitter I have been proven wrong.  Apparently advancing farther means you're better and St. Thomas would get destroyed by Brockport.

I... ummm... yeah.. I'm still a little unnerved at what became of that discussion. I just wanted to debate the merits of 45 and 48 yard FGs and their impact on the (potential) final score. And also get into the nitty gritty of offensive and defensive statistical comparisons.
