I'll stand corrected that the d3#8 ranked team won't make the committee play-offs.
How about #7?

They both will if they win out. Are you suggesting otherwise?

Well, jamto, you tried to argue that me using the term coed was politically incorrect and possibly rude.  Surely your #triggers are going off like popcorn now.

Nah, my trigger is pretty light. I would have to read it 50-60 more times in the context of stupid jokes when there was a perfectly accurate non-antiquated alternative available before I said anything.

BU creamed the Cobbers.

Was this an intentional joke or did it just happen naturally?

Good win for Stout helping the Johnnie SOS.

I guess the same applies to Eau Claire shocking Platteville

Caruso says Trettel cleared and back next week. We will see how his return goes.

I was wondering the same thing about this but maybe it's just one of those weird Aussie spellings.

The final weak matchup against UST will be interesting.

St Thomas is up 42-0. Parks almost at 200 yards rushing

Tommies 14-0

So I spend half the year in DC and the other half in the UK. I was talking to a British friend at Oxford who went to UST about the Tommie-Johnnie game. I mentioned how well the Johnnies played, and asked his opinion. He expressed that the Johnnies might have played well, but they’re “still a bunch of twats.” Thoughts?
The feeling is mutual. 8-)

Since you are technically not a Johnnie, I am inclined to interpret this as your agreement with the assessment about the Johns. Glad we are all on the same page here.

I am currently sitting in a tractor in an Iowa beanfield reading "The Sweet Season" while my son plays trucks and tractors in the tractor. Lots of familiar names in this book, a few from the board here, a few that I've trash talked with on twitter (you can guess) and even a couple of guys that I work with (one of which I may have to take to lunch on Monday in relation to an ill-advised bet).

I hope you enjoy the book.  That was my freshman year at SJU--a pretty neat season to be around.
I am really enjoying it so far. Despite my stellar academic pedigree, I am actually not much of a reader. Trying to get more into the groove of it, would be better for my mental and brain health to spend my time reading a book instead of cruising Twitter once the kids go to bed.

Boy, my fellow Tommie fans have gotten quiet after taking it on the chin. Although, if I recall this is pretty typical of the fans of the team that comes up on the short end of that game. It'll pick-up (for the Tommies) as the season pushes on and playoffs approach. I am sure the Johnnie fans will be hoping for another Tommie loss so there's no possibility of a rematch this year. I know those were my feelings the past several years. It's not because you don't think they'll win, it's because you have nothing to gain and everything to lose. You only have bragging rights until the next time you lose in that rivalry. Here's hoping that both teams win out and there's a rematch in the playoffs. Cheers!

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm letting the Johnnies have their 15 minutes. It's a small concession that one needs to make only once every five years or so.

Same.

I think we all said our congratulatory piece and look forward to a possible playoff rematch.

It's also Carleton week for us which generally gets as much activity as bye week, until after the game when somebody gets bent out of shape because our guys are having more fun than their guys while taking an 8-3 lead against the Carlies.

Here's something: was Parks down before the 99 yard fumble return? I hadn't really thought about it but have now heard a few folks who looked at it closely suggest he should have been down.

Would it have made a difference? I don't know. We got out played all around anyway.

Was reading the Toledo Blade newspaper this morning and in the article of BGSU replacing the fired head coach, on the list of possible hires was Glenn Caruso, Head Coach of Division 3 St Thomas.

I thought this might be an opportunity for VK. Especially if they want to stay in Ohio (which seemed to be a criticism of the coach that was just fired).

VK to BGSU, GC to UMU.

This would almost be worth it, just to witness the outrage

From the OAC board, something fun for us to banter about:

Was reading the Toledo Blade newspaper this morning and in the article of BGSU replacing the fired head coach, on the list of possible hires was Glenn Caruso, Head Coach of Division 3 St Thomas.

He's been with the Toms for a decade.  Try as some of us have for that period to find him a new job, he hasn't gone anywhere.  And, I doubt he would go to Bowling-freaking-Green.

Although, a more tempting prospect would be if P.J. Fleck can't get his rowboat to work in the Mississippi River, and he is subsequently asked to establish port elswhere.  Glenn wouldn't have to uproot his family.  Just a quick trip down I-94 to get to work.

Outside of the Gophers or a marquee/blue blood FBS program coming at him with some serious moolah, I doubt there is any real danger of Caruso leaving.

Agreed.
I wonder if he'd ever be tempted by a D1 coordinator gig, if the geography was right. I don't think he's going anywhere though, with a kid in high school now and a wife battling cancer.

Over on the OAC board, a post about an article in the Toledo Blade says Glenn Caruso is a candidate for the Bowling Green opening. Obviously, a WIAC coach has jumped from D3 to the MAC, is Caruso looking to make that jump?

For various reasons, I think it's highly unlikely.

Then again, those same reasons could have applied to other coaches that made the jump. This opportunity and this timing (after being here for 10 years) would be very odd. But nothing is impossible.
