Yeah, it would be a terrible shame to lose a program that was once quite successful.  Sad that SJU can't seem to find the money to pay a full-time salary for a head coach.  In the grand scheme of things, it's a drop in the bucket.

A tradition unrivaled...

Yes, the arms race in the major sports drains the minor ones I guess. A shame. A catch 22, that's for sure.

Hmmm. Care to elaborate? I was up there touring the school with my son last summer. (He chose a different school) I did like the improvements made to the hockey facility. And they do have a new football stadium. The neighborhood around the University isn't the greatest I guess.

Hockey is KING, and well it should be, all the non revenue sports took dramatic cuts or were eliminated last year. A buddy who I grew up with was the men's & women's tennis coach, both programs eliminated as well as track & cross country and ski teams.  SEE THE ARTICLE from March 2016--------> http://www.twincities.com/2016/03/02/st-cloud-state-u-will-cut-6-athletics-programs/

I see what you mean. Tough on the students and coaches of the cut programs. I know they almost cut football a few years back as well.

Not sure if everyone is aware of this but with Evan Clark coming back alongside dan Harrington, Matt Miller and Will Gillach does SJU have the most dangerous receiving weapons or someone else like UST, Gustavous or maybe a Hamline?

Rumor has it  that Clark will move to DB. There may be some offensive packages which include him and he will also continue in his role as a return specialist. Yes, Harrington, Miller, Gillach along with Streit & Auger as TEs who can line up anywhere on the field makes for a very interesting receiving corp.

Yes Clark is playing some CB this year, obviously with the talent at WR and lack of depth at CB it makes sense, but should still see plenty of WR. Good point on the TE's too, Auger, Streit and a possible sleeper, Bartch a sophomore this year should really give either Alvord or Erdmann plenty of weapons to throw to

SJU should have some good options to throw the ball to. However, how are they looking on the OL? If I remember correctly, they have to replace three guys up front. Also, who's the leading RB coming into camp this season?

Greggers

Yeah O-Line is a little more iffy, some good young options but inexperienced, not sure they will be worse then last year though, and looks like it will be between Adam Esller and Dusty Kruger and Barber at FB if he returns from injury

I'm surprised to hear that Clark will play a little CB this season. I thought they looked pretty good on the outside with Perry and Gutierrez. Or will he play a little Safety to replace Ackerman?

Greggers

Perry transferred out so that opened up the need at CB

Got it. Did Perry transfer up or is he with another D3 program? He was a pretty good athlete coming out of high school.

Greggers

Went to a JUCO, I don't think he could hang in school with his grades
