Boy, my fellow Tommie fans have gotten quiet after taking it on the chin. Although, if I recall this is pretty typical of the fans of the team that comes up on the short end of that game. It'll pick-up (for the Tommies) as the season pushes on and playoffs approach. I am sure the Johnnie fans will be hoping for another Tommie loss so there's no possibility of a rematch this year. I know those were my feelings the past several years. It's not because you don't think they'll win, it's because you have nothing to gain and everything to lose. You only have bragging rights until the next time you lose in that rivalry. Here's hoping that both teams win out and there's a rematch in the playoffs. Cheers!

Reading the article in the SC Times, those Oles sound real tough. I'm wondering if it's just marketing hype to get more than 3K people to show up tomorrow.

We claimed our parking spot about 8:15am last Saturday, thinking we can arrive a little later this week!!!   :)

Sounds like we'll at least have some sun, and the wind won't be in our faces.  Will the new MIAC "wind chill index" factor into the game???   ::)

Here's something: was Parks down before the 99 yard fumble return? I hadn't really thought about it but have now heard a few folks who looked at it closely suggest he should have been down.

Would it have made a difference? I don't know. We got out played all around anyway.

Much like the entire Tommie fan base, they only show up for the JOHNNIE/tommie game.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm letting the Johnnies have their 15 minutes. It's a small concession that one needs to make only once every five years or so.

From my vantage point in the stands, I thought he was down, but the refs had a lot better view than I did.  I never heard a whistle.

Lots of what ifs from that game.  What if the Johnnies didn't stall out in the red zone on their first drive?  What if Streit didn't drop a TD pass that was literally in his hands.  What if the ref didn't make a phantom offensive PI call that negated another Gillach TD?  It was a huge play, yes, but I don't think it affected the final outcome.

Same.

I think we all said our congratulatory piece and look forward to a possible playoff rematch.

It's also Carleton week for us which generally gets as much activity as bye week, until after the game when somebody gets bent out of shape because our guys are having more fun than their guys while taking an 8-3 lead against the Carlies.

Might have been down, but it was incredibly close.

PS:  If you're looking for some football tonight, come on over to Northwestern.  Probably the only game in town with the High Schools all out on break.  Should be an entertaining game against the surprising Martin Luthers.    Reusse wrote a column about them a couple weeks ago.  http://www.startribune.com/solving-a-football-mystery-in-new-ulm/495228711/

Don't want to interrupt the analysis of the Zapruder film but wanted to make the Johnnie faithful, and even our Cobber friends, aware of a viewing party next Sat at Jax Cafe. The players need to take it one game at a time but for planning purposes it's easier to assume a win for the Jays this weekend.

The viewing party is put on by the SJU J-Club and it's free. Our only ask is you register ahead of time for planning purposes. The registration link is below.

What's the over/under on personal fouls for the Oles?
The same as the number of Florwegians on the roster.
That has to be more than 2.  ;)

I am going to watch the game online and then we are heading to the coast to hang out on the beach. It is suppose to be 68 degrees and sunny. I would still rather get to go to the game in person... I am so jealous!

I am currently sitting in a tractor in an Iowa beanfield reading "The Sweet Season" while my son plays trucks and tractors in the tractor. Lots of familiar names in this book, a few from the board here, a few that I've trash talked with on twitter (you can guess) and even a couple of guys that I work with (one of which I may have to take to lunch on Monday in relation to an ill-advised bet).

I hope you enjoy the book.  That was my freshman year at SJU--a pretty neat season to be around.
