Five 2010 draftees have links. Two shortstops, Kelson Brown and Nick Robinson, will start in Short Season A. Derek Eitel, Eric Groff and Chris Jarrett will be teammates at Missoula in Rookie ball.
Mike Giovenco was signed by the Royals and has been assigned to Burlington of the Appalachian League.  best of luck, Mike!

Kenny Moreland was named the SAL Pitcher of the Week for games ending June 20.

In looking at the MiLB all-star game rosters, I saw Ryan Flannery (Single-A SAL) and Archie Gilbert (Double-A Texas League) as the only D3'ers who'll play. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Triple-A and Southern League rosters are TBD.

Flannery: 1 IP, 1 R (unearned), 1 H, 2 K. Game ended in 5-5 tie.

Gilbert will start in the outfield for the South team on June 30.

Tim Kiely was selected to play in the Double-A Texas League all-star game but was promoted to Triple-A.

Here are the NDFA's from 2010 I found so far. Let me know of others, including those who transfered out of D3 yet found a way to MiLB.

Erik Kratz will be a backup at the IL all-star game July 14. Kratz hit the game-winning HR in last year's IL all-star game.

Archie Gilbert packed a lot of goodness in his all star appearance. Gilbert went 0-for-1 with a BB, R, RBI, SF, SB and K as the leadoff batter and starting CF for the South Texas League all-star team. The South won, 5-4.

From Chapman's Website:

Four Chapman baseball alumni are still working their way through the minor leagues, including former Division III Player of the Year Kurt Yacko '09, who has climbed to Class-A Advanced within the Colorado Rockies organization. Here's a brief rundown on the former Panthers currently playing pro ball:

Kurt Yacko '09, Modesto Nuts (Colorado Rockies, Class-A Advanced) – Yacko '09 is now in his third year in the Rockies' farm system having climbed the organizational ranks each year. Serving as a full-time relief pitcher, the right-hander is currently 4-2 with a 2.72 ERA, helping the Nuts place second in the North Division of the California League in the first half of the season. In typical fashion, Yacko's strikeout-to-walk ratio has been fantastic with 46 Ks and just 9 BBs in 39.2 innings. And during the month of June he was even better with a 2-0 record and 0.73 ERA in 10 appearances.

Matt Irsfeld '09, Eugene Emeralds (San Diego Padres, Class-A Short Season) – Irsfeld went undrafted in 2009 but signed with the Padres at the end of the summer, eventually landing in his own backyard. The Eugene, Ore. native appears to be getting on track while playing in his hometown. The righty has made seven appearances with the Ems of the Northwest League, six of which have been scoreless one-inning outings. He had one rough outing in June, giving him a misleading ERA of 5.68 in Eugene. In 12 appearances this season (he also made a brief stop at Fort Wayne in the Midwest League) he is 0-3 with an 11.45 ERA.

John Semel '10, Kingsport Mets (New York Mets, Rookie) – The Mets' 26th round selection a year ago, Semel has not been quick out of the gates this summer, possibly suffering from the lingering effects of a back injury that kept him from much of his offseason training. The speedy outfielder was reassigned recently to the Mets' rookie club in Kingsport, Fla. of the Appalachian League and tripled and drove in a run in his first game. However, he is batting just .162 and has yet to steal a base after the first two weeks of the season.

Wayde Kitchens '09, Oakland County Cruisers (Independent) – The three-time All-American signed a contract with the Cruisers of the independent Frontier League in February coming off a pectoral injury that sidelined him for a portion of his senior year at Chapman. Kitchens has come back healthy and strong as a starting pitcher for Oakland County, posting a 2-1 record with 49 strikeouts in 39 innings. The right-hander has an ERA of 3.69 and has made nine appearances, including seven starts on the mound for the first-place Cruisers

Gabe Bonfanti '05 has made a career of not only playing, but managing in the Italian and Swiss baseball leagues. The former Chapman pitcher is currently playing shortstop and managing the Sissach Frogs in Switzerland after a four-year career in the Italian Baseball League. This summer the Frogs are 8-4 with Bonfanti at the helm and he's batting .320 with a .520 on-base percentage

James Kang, Pomona Pitzer shortstop drafted by the Red Sox this year, moved up from the Gulf Coast Rookie League to the Lowell Spinners Short Season A team.  Since the move last week he has been player of the game twice, and participated in the futures game at Fenway Park on Saturday, hitting a monster double off the Green Monster!

I follow the Spinners because (a) I lived in New England for 20 years, and (b) the Red Sox pick up a lot of D3 kids, and (c) I'm a Hopkins homer and Chez Angeloni is with Lowell.  Kudos to Kang!  Pity, however, the Spinners' pitcher Randy Consuegra (not a D3 kid).  He is 0-2 in 2 starts, having retired only one hitter.  He's given up 10 runs, all earned.  He's walked 10, K'd none, and plunked 2.  His ERA is 270.00 and is WHIP is 30.00.  The good news is, he hasn't given up a home run, yet.  It's a tough life out there.
A walk is never as good as a hit!

LHP Andrew Pevsner (Hopkins '10) has been putting up good numbers out of the bullpen for the Ogden Raptors (LA Dodgers, Pioneer Rookie Advanced League).  He's 1-0 in 6 appearances. 10.1 innings with no runs, 5 hits, 11 Ks, 4 BBs and 1 HB.  His ERA is 0.00 and his WHIP is 0.87.  And now I've jinxed him--sorry, Pevs.
