Well, we have a weekend coming up that the SCIAC hasn't seen in a long time, if ever.  CMS is undefeated and in the driver's seat with Redlands one spot behind.  CMS has Chapman (for what is essentially a meaningless game for Chapman) this weekend, and PP for their finale.  Redlands has Whittier and Oxy left.

CMS can clinch at least a share of the title by winning either of their last two games (and they get the playoff bid).  If they win both, they get the title outright.  Unless somebody think Redlands will lose to either Whittier, or Oxy (I wouldn't put any money on it), there is no way Chapman can win even a share of the conference title with two  league losses already.  The big money says Redlands will finish with one loss.  The question is how will CMS finish.

Anybody had any scrimmages yet or maybe tomorrow?

The identical press release regarding the Peace Pipe
appears on PP's website signed by their AD.

The information about the new assistants at Oxy was posted on Football Scoop.

I thought after Widolf was let go at Oxy, the new head coach said he was going to keep the rest of the staff intact.  It seems other than the coordinators, a lot of the assistants are new.

Anybody have any idea if Oxy will have any "transfers" this season?  Isn't that what started the whole thing that got Widolf fired?

It seems interesting that if the alleged recruiting violations came to light in mid April as their press release indicates, Oxy didn't release anything publicly until after May 1st.  Does that have any to do with application deadlines, or is it just a coincidence?   If, in fact, Oxy is guilty of recruiting violations, will they allow anyone they got in response to improper recruiting to play this fall?  Firing the coach is one thing and may be appropriate if what they say occurred is true.  It just doesn't seem to me you can fire the coach and then reap the benefit of the actions he was fired for.

I assume the low numbers of attendance at CMS includes the Redlands fans that were present, as well as Cal Lu fans at their game.  Someone noted above Claremont was on fall break and most students were gone.  Maybe the Redlands fans assumed a blowout and didn't bother.  Had they known their feet would be in the fire for the whole game, maybe more would have come.

Interesting that Cal Lu, CMS and Chapman all had to come back late in the 4th to win.

We have a new season, a few new headcoaches, new players, some old players gone.  I realize Cal Lu is the pre-season pick to repeat, but does anybody have any thoughts on how things might actually turn out?  Will there be some also-rans from last year that move up?  Some successful ones that drop down?

From reading the Cal Lu release, it sounds like it's hardly worth playing the conference schedule for them.  Merely a nuisance for them to endure until they get to the real games.

Looking at Redlands roster it looks like they lose about 25 through graduation.  Anybody have any idea how many of those were starters?

Any word on head coaches at Whittier, Laverne or Claremont?
