I'm starting to like this Linfield squad... they don't have any flashy players but they have workman like players at every position. I was impressed by the receivers and running backs... plus the QBs are above average. Linfield's defense is still the major player.

Cat's defense continues shine doing a nice job against the Pios only giving up 6 points.

Disappointed that Linfield doesn't have the 2023 roster up for the fans. Every other NWC team has 2023
        up.

While I agree it's a little late, one thing to keep in mind is that Linfield didn't play this past weekend, while five of the other six NWC teams did.

I recognized that 5 played and still was disappointed. As fans l think most are hopeful to be able to see roster more than 4 days prior to first game. It lets us know if some of our senior/j Junior guys are back or not. Our 9 game schedule may also play into the decision on later posting. Just think it would be nice for fans and alums and probably players and their families.

You're going to be even more crabby next year, George.

We'll see. Tons of talent back and we lose a number of guys up front in, I think we'll be better there than most Linfield fans initially think.

I believe we potentially have same talent level next year as we have enjoyed this year. We lose guys up front but have sophomore/ junior guys that are ready to contribute on the o-line. We have as great a stable of RB's and WR's coming back as any one could hope for and a very good QB with his 1st starting season behind him. We lose some on d-line but got guys ready to step in and continue our great tradition. Our young secondary improved a bunch from a shaky start and will be better out of the gate.  Staff will figure out where we need to get better with returning talent. One area l would like to see is a better short passing game we can go to in order to deal with the kind of pressure we saw on our QB yesterday. We got the long ball down but when taken away from us with a strong rush our QB needs to have a short game available to keep opponents rush game honest. Busy time for the staff as they continue to recruit Linfield quality men for the future of the program which they obviously get done year in and year so we all get to enjoy one of the top small college programs over the last 66 year. I have no doubt we will be a nasty one to deal with next year.

With Whittier dropping their program, how about the NWC/SCIAC potentially merging?

No thank you.  :P :-*

Take the West Coast from two automatic qualifier playoff berths to one, with teams having to beat out 13 others to earn one rather than being on top of 5 or 6? Why go for that?

Long term survival. California is a graveyard of former football programs, with two SCIAC programs folding within the last few years. Who is the NWC going to schedule if the SCIAC goes away?

May have to double up with one of the two games non conference as SCIAC does now.

I was at the PP/CMS game Saturday and got a good look at the Hens after only seeing them prior on the PP stream. Their QB Skylar Nobel will remind Linfield guys of the late great Oxy QB Andy Collins. Nobel at 6'3" 230lbs is a big QB with a good arm and can run. He has thrown for 2,303 yds and run for 773 yds in 10 games four of those games over 100 yds( by far PP's leading rusher). His passing and running average 307.6 yds per game  accounted for 21 TDs. Don't know how SCIAC awards work but for me  he has to be offensive POY. How Nobel goes, so goes the Hens and the guy has to be accounted for every play. He runs the offense out of the gun and makes quick decisions...if the pass isn't there he is off and running. On the other side of the ball PP defensive line did a good job putting enough pressure on CMS QB Fogel to keep him at 160 yds for the game. CMS talented soph RB Edwards was held to 106 yds rushing...no small task.  Hens are well coached and aren't prone to making mistakes. They will come in with their game plan centered around Nobel play smart football.
Man--you sound like a scout or something  ;D

Definitely not a scout but did sit by one at the game...my wife tells me I'm "something else" all the time but uses some other words l usually only hear on the golf course.

Redlands was surprising me, in the 9 spot no less.

Just 3 wins on the year.

Redlands loses are very close games, and the team is playing excellent football right now.  They are my pick to win the SCIAC with the current play of teams.

So is CMS. They're blowing out teams Redlands lost to, and have only one loss on the year - by just 5 points  ;)
They will play each other for the title, and we will see.  My money is on Redlands.  They have tradition and are putting it all together at the right time.

CMS should have your attention now. Their rampage continues...

42-0 over Redlands  :o

No doubt that CMS is the best team in the SCIAC this year and should beat P-P by 20 on Saturday.  They are strong on both sides of the field, have great special teams, and the best rb in SCIAC.

I can understand why CMS looks like a 20 pt favorite but this is a unique rivalry game (Peace Pipe) between two teams that take a five minute walk between stadiums each year to face off. CMS should have won this game dang near every year going way back yet PP has held their own. Just going back to 2015 each team owns a 3-3 record in this game. In that time span point differential is PP 67 CMS 63 all games close until the end with exception of last year with PP controlling with 24-10 solid win.  In conference going in last year PP was 2-4 and CMS was 4-2. They played non conference game earlier and CMS won 25-3. This IMO is by far the best rivalry game year in and year out in the SCIAC and rarely disappoints....l may have just talked myself into making the 100 mile drive each way to catch this one.

Don't you miss Occidental, Bluenote?

They had a very good team in '04 or '05 .... stud qb but forgot his name.

I do -- then I went over to Oxy-Linfield that evening, and I actually started off doing play by play on the Oxy broadcast because Craig Dunkin was stuck in traffic. :)

I also attended all three of those games. I believe it was CMS vs UPS in the first game which started at 12:00.  Second game was PP vs L & C with a 1:30 start then down the 210 to Eagle Rock for Oxy vs Cats with 7:00 start.

Between Willamette and Redlands what is there left to say about today?

Comparison Smith-Eaton after first four games as starters...Smith 73/188 for 914 and 6TD's...Eaton 87/134 for 1143 and 12 TD's. Games 3 and 4 for Smith were playoffs HSU and UMHB. Cat's rolled HSU then lost 31-20 to UMHB. Smith great game against HSU but tough go against UMHB but Cru didn't shine in that game either we just made boatload of mistakes. All in all Eaton is measuring up nicely so far and l think showing a lot of poise.

Not sure I've seen King this accurate. He's on fire tonight.

KJ's adjustments when the ball is in the air was huge !
