For soccer, I didn't say it clearly, but was thinking of perhaps 4 teams going to one site and playing either 2 games in 2 days or 3 games in 3 days.  Save on travel... by all going to one site.  perhaps it doesn't led to soccer...

I think it would work for baseball and softball... just like it does for volleyball.

I beleive that the SUNYAC has done this with volleyball for the last 15 years or more...  this type of scheduling lends its self to volleyball because of the type of tournaments they play.

Could it work with other sports like Soccer, baseball, softball?  Others...

Excuse me for being a little fuzzy on this... several construction projects in our faciliites here at work so haven't stayed up to date...  but isn't Ithaca planning on joining the Liberty League in a couple of years too?  That would move then into pool A.

Its amazing what one move by a single school can do to the entire picture...  Pool B bids will go to teams from the WIAC if they fall to six teams.  That will impact a lot of teams in other areas.

QuoteTHis seems like an easy decision in my book with this school+ these d1 athletes don't get the d3 concept:

No the student athletes don't get it... but from a D-I school like Centenary I can understand that with all the MLB, NBA and NFL players they turn out annually.

Going to D-III would be "folding the tent"?  What is this guy talking about?  I won't lump the administration in with this lunk head as I think that the administration knows what D-III is all about and would work within that environment... that is part of the reason they are considering it.  It's most likely just the student athletes who think they are superior that don't get it?

Those in region losses happen in every conference tournament.  And teams that are "favorites" who don't win their conference tournament love others to fall too!

O'Leary was hit pretty hard yesterday, and when he came out of the game as early as he did, I wondered if he would come back again today... I don't think he threw that many pitches (25-30?).  But I do think it is going to be Campbell going first... with O'Leary coming back for the second game if they can win the first one.  It is too bad that Matt Kelly got spiked last week as his bat is missed... and despite the ERA, he is a senior who has shown he can pitch in this league.

I think it is an obvious choice that Carlson goes for Fredonia... I was mildly surprised that he didn't pitch yesterday against Brockport.  But Saeva did a very good job... he was strong throughout the game.

I have to say that Jason Shannon did a great job for Brockport yesterday too.  IMO, he is one of the best pitchers in the conference... any time he is on the mound against you; you are in for a tough day with the bat.  He is much better then his 5-4 record and ERA indicate.  And I have to say good job to Joe Zaccardo for his day at the plate... He has hit the ball hard all year, and did it again yesterday.

Also, the front end of Cortland's batting order was very good yesterday... Gardner, Avery, Jackson and Nickel hit several ball right on the screws... If they continue to hit and the bull pen comes through they are going to be a tough out.  With Tone on the mound I don't think to many teams are going to beat Cortland.. espeically if they hit as they did before the rain yesterday.

I think that the pitching match up in the second game today will be Gentzke vs Ratliff.   Coach Brown seems to like to throw lefties against Brockport.

Wish we were there again today, but other obligations won't let us be there...

What could be protested on that?  It was a judgement call that the ball cleared the fence.

While the winning percentage means you are successful, they use a point system that is tied to the record of the team that you win or lose against.  A couple years ago they added to that a way to consider the strenght of schedule of the opponents of the teams you played too.

BUT as a starting point using a teams winning percentage is a good conversation point.

Based on records of teams in region, I don't see a team from NY getting a bid unless they win their conference.  Im disappointed that teams from ohter regions will be brought in to fill out the field, but to stop that from happening teams just have to win against a strong schedule.

I can't wait for the tournament either...

There are a lot of guys named as they all do deserve consideration... but I did pick a first team.  And the second team was much harder.  What I did was name at least two guys in each position with the one I would put on the second team being the first one named.  The others are guys who I did consider and listed them because they were in the mix.

The player of the year was really tough... I had 5 guys in the mix, the three I named and Todd Allen (Brockport) and Jason Simone (Cortland).  Any one who is on the first team should be in the mix for this award...  but I arrived at the three I did based on their overall statistics.  Then I considered the roll they played in their teams dynamics... (from an outsiders view of course - the coaches may make stronger cases for any of the guys).

And a side note to that... I always do this... I mixed up Ryan Myers and Dan Randall when I looked at the conference statistics (I highlighted Dan's stats and not Ryan's).  So maybe Josh, Todd or Jason should jump ahead of him for the POY considerations.  But as I said, anyone on the first team should be considered... so I will stand by what I put in the post.  An argument can be made for all of them...

I agree with you on coach of the year.  Matt's team did a great job and had a terrific year!

Hope the tournament is as exciting and unpredictable as the season was!

From what I understand... the criteria is changed from years past.  In years past, some of the selections looked a little strange (how ever you want to put it...), but that was becasue the primary statistical considerations were the CONFERENCE ONLY stats... some guys had great years, but didn't do well in the conference games.  A perfect example is Dan Maycock a couple of years ago.  In past years the season stats were only used when two guys were even.

that was hard for some of us to take as we only looked at the season stats and not the conference ones.

This year, that is different... as they are flipped around.

It is still a really hard thing to do, but overall I think the coaches do their due diligence and come up with the correct team based on the criteria they are directed to follow.  It is hard to do...

Love to hear anyone elses prediction/opinion on the team.
