Women's soccer / Grad Students
« on: November 08, 2022, 01:03:25 pm »
Things are not very lively here these days but I am wondering if anyone has thoughts about the effect that so many grad-students and fifth year seniors will have this year.  I understand this is mostly because of the Covid year and we will probably be seeing this for the next 2 years.

Women's soccer / D-3 Women 2019
« on: August 25, 2019, 04:26:02 pm »
I am certainly ready to see some soccer.  After looking at the D-3 Sooccer "this is not a poll"  I was surprised to see Messiah at #2.  While I am sure the Falcons will be fine, I think they have some work to do before I can imagine them that high.

As I wandered down through the "not a poll" list and looked at schedules, I was struck by how few teams jumped off the deep end to start to season.  It seems to me the toughest schedules early on belong to Hopkins, William Smith and Wheaton (Ill.).  I understand that Nescac and the UAA have their own issues to deal with but other schools seem to have softened their early schedules.  This will sort it self out as the seaon goes on but it surprised me.

So..let's talk.

Women's soccer / 2016 ?
« on: August 04, 2016, 05:25:23 pm »
Perhaps, everyone is packing before Canada builds their wall.  No politics, just wondering.

Does Williams have enough to repeat?  Any teams that will surprise?  My early pick, as always, is UCSC.  Gotta love the Banana Slugs.

Women's soccer / We still play soccer here
« on: September 22, 2014, 04:13:21 pm »
Since it was my brain fart that killed the discussion here almost two years ago, I will remind everyone that from Lynchburg to upstate New York there is some great soccer being played.  All through New Jersey, Maryland and Pa. good things are happening.  Any thoughts?

Women's soccer / NCAA Polls
« on: October 18, 2012, 07:26:56 pm »
I remember someone explaining this to me before but I need a refresher course.  I looked at the new NCAA polls and I think Hardin Simmons is #3 in their National Poll behind Emory and Messiah and in the Regional Poll they are #3 behind Trinity and Cal. Lutheran.  Does this have to do with String Theory or Quantum Euphemisms.  Help!!!

Four teams with, I think, 9 championships total to their credit.  Some old and some newer.  So, what happens now?

Women's soccer / Hopkins and Messiah
« on: August 28, 2011, 04:23:20 pm »
Hopkins opens with Rensselaer and CMU.  Messiah starts with Wittenberg and Swarthmore.  On 9-7 JHU and Messiah meet in what has become one of the best rivalries in the east.  It should be an interesting first week of the season.

Women's soccer / No love for the Falcons???
« on: November 08, 2010, 12:30:53 pm »
So much for this regional ranking stuff.  Dickinson and Hopkins host and Messiah travels to Rowan.  Interesting?? or just goofy.   I am not sure I would have wanted to explain that on the selection broadcast.  Oh well.
