NYU just got one goal back.  It is now Brandeis 2, NYU 1 in the 66th minute.

The NYU goal came in the 64th minute from Dominique Bevacqua, with an assist from Gabriella Funk.  The goal came on NYU's first shot on target of the match.

Brandeis currently outshooting NYU, 10-5, and is leading in shots on target, 6-1.

Earlier in the half, Brandeis's second goal also came off a corner kick.

First UAA game of Matchround #7 is now final.

Brandeis improves to 11-4-2, 4-3 in the UAA.  They will finish UAA play at 12 points and a -1 goal differential in UAA play. Brandeis temporarily takes over second place in the UAA table, pending the outcome of tomorrow's Case Western Reserve University at Carnegie Mellon match.

With MIT up 3-0 at halftime over Springfield in the NEWMAC women's title game, Brandeis will be the first team from Region II on the Pool C national table, and it seems obvious that Brandeis's resume will secure a Pool C selection for the Judges now.

NYU drops to 8-7-1, 1-5-1 in the UAA  They will finish UAA play at 4 points and a -7 goal differential in UAA play.

In the other game in Rochester, it is still Emory 0, Rochester 0 in the 87th minute.

Emory is now temporarily tied with Chicago for 5th place in the UAA.

Rochester finishes UAA play at 4 points, tied with NYU for 7th place, and a -5 goal differential in UAA play.  Rochester finishes at 0-3-4 in the UAA, 6-5-5 overall.

With Centre losing yesterday in Region VI, and Emory just drawing with Rochester today, Emory is on the Pool C bubble, although the Eagles may still be on the bubble's good side given that Emory's 2 wins in UAA play were over the top 2 teams in Region VII (Carnegie Mellon and Case Western Reserve University).  Emory also tied with Centre in a scoreless draw earlier this season.  If there is a down side, it is that Emory just drew on the road vs the bottom 2 teams in the UAA, and one draw is against a low ranked team in Region III. (#7 in Region III Rochester).

Coming up at 11 AM Eastern Standard Time--

The top two teams in Region VII, Case Western Reserve University and Carnegie Mellon, will play each other to conclude the final round of UAA play for the season.

Both teams have great chances for being selected to the NCAA DIII Women's Soccer Tournament with a Pool C pick tomorrow, along with Brandeis, Chicago, and Emory.

Carnegie Mellon picked up a fourth win vs a DIII ranked opponent this week when Capital entered the Region VII rankings at #9, thereby guaranteeing the Tartans a fourth win vs ranked for selection purposes.  CMU's other 3 wins vs ranked all occurred in UAA play, vs Brandeis, Chicago, and NYU.  The Tartans also picked up a tie vs #7 in Region III rankings Rochester.

CWRU also picked up a win and tie vs DIII ranked opponents last week when the Spartans tied with #2 in Region VIII Chicago and defeated #1 in Region VIII Wash U after the Bears clinched the UAA title and AQ in 5 rounds of UAA play.

CWRU improves to 14-1-2 overall and finishes at 4-1-2 in the UAA.  The Spartans finish in 2nd place in the UAA with 14 points and a +4 goal differential in UAA play.

Carnegie Mellon drops to 11-5-1 overall and finishes at 3-3-1 in the UAA.  The Tartans finish in 4th place in the UAA with 10 points and a +5 goal differential in UAA play.

Brandeis finishes in 3rd place in the UAA-- 11-4-2 overall, 4-3 in the UAA.  The Judges finish the UAA season with 12 points and a -1 goal differential in UAA play.

D3Soccer.com analysis of who the National Committee may pick as Pool C later today came out this morning.

When Centre initially lost, I thought that Emory would be on the bubble, but after seeing how many wins Emory had vs ranked opponents this season, and seeing that Rhodes, the SAA AQ, lost to Emory and that the Emory vs Rhodes game counts as an RvR game, I put Emory back in a safe position.

I ran through the first 12 Pool C picks before stopping, so I did not go all the way down to pick #20, but I had 5 UAA teams and 3 NESCAC teams in the top 12 Pool C picks as well, along with Centre, Johns Hopkins, and Ithaca.  I had UW-La Crosse at #12 and Lynchburg at #13, while D3Soccer.com had Lynchburg at #12 and UW-La Crosse at #13.  I also agree with D3Soccer.com that NYU will be on the national table out of Region IV, but not get picked.

It just seemed that yesterday's CWRU vs Carnegie Mellon game was just to determine which of the two teams would get in as a Pool C pick before the other, as both teams had their Pool C invites secure before the game....
