NCAA rule changes
« on: April 21, 2022, 03:58:33 pm »
Thrilled to see this change:

Overtime – Regular Season
Eliminate overtime during the regular season.
Rationale: To align with IFAB (FIFA) Laws of the Game, reduce playing volume for student-athletes and place value
on a tie. In data collected since 2013, 47% of overtime games are left tied at the end of the overtime periods.

Also glad the NCAA eliminated golden goal in postseason OTs, but regular season OT, particularly when you're playing back-to-back games, just seemed cruel and unnecessary.

Opposing viewpoints welcome, of course!

As a fan, I loved the golden goal rule and was looking forward to seeing some high-drama OT games.

As a parent of a student athlete, I'm good with the change. :)

I just would like to see the clock stopped on all substitutions in the last 20 minutes of each half I think...
