Whitewater Regional: North Central 2, Luther 4. The Cards must now play Carthage in a must win game. If they can beat them(NC is 0-3 against Carthage), they would have to beat Luther twice to advance.

Anderson pulled it off--a #8 seed in a regional reaches the D3 Softball World Series!

Heard Central-IA also qualified--

Anderson is the first HCAC school to win a regional. Good luck Ravens :)

1st round games with NFCA rankings

Salisbury (1) vs Cortland St
Luther (18) vs Anderson
Tufts (7) vs Texas-Tyler (5)
Central (16) vs Montclair St (3)

The pairings for this were made months ago determined by the regional winner.  Why does NCAA not re-seed?

Unfortunately, the NCAA doesn't care. I consider many of the NCAA National Championships to be just National Tournaments that crown a champion. It is a shame that Tufts and Texas-Tyler meet in the first round.

It's down to Cortland State, Salisbury and Tufts for the championship. UT-Tyler is eliminated by Salisbury in a heart-breaker.

Just curious, how many NCAA folks does it take to run a softball tournament?

Just returned from Eau Claire and at games there were at least 10 NCAA folks at the "front tables" (blocking the view of the visitor fans I might add).  Of those 10, one would wipe the balls dry when they got wet, one would be there to open up the chained off area in case anyone needed in or out.  The rest of them looked at computers or phones and gave dirty looks to fans who questioned a call on the field.  Oh wait, one was in charge of getting the foul balls from who ever went and retrieved it (no way they were going to go and get them).
Guess my $10/day gate fee had to cover all those important folks.

Pat Coleman

Pretty much all of the national committees are eight people, one per region. Those were the folks sitting there.

This was my first softball championship and indeed it looked odd to me. Usually a couple members of the committee have other duties to perform at any given time at the other championships I've covered.

Visiting fans could simply sit a few rows up in the bleachers and not be blocked, though. :)

Some of the visiting fans were older and had trouble getting up the bleachers especially when they were wet.
