They backed out on us, not sure why.  We've struggling ever since to fill week one.
The thing is, they ended up with no game in week 1 either year and only played 9 games both years since they dropped you guys. Looking back at scores, 2021 was kind of a blowout but for the most part games have usually been competitive so it's not like they were getting steamrolled all the time. Just can't figure it out.

Mind boggling. I want some of what the person that came up with this was smoking.

So the board outage occurred during a big part of the current MUW renaming events. I have a cousin who is a '70's grad so I see a good bit of the info on her social media. Besides a failed try at renaming the university in the 90's they are currently in a process to find a much needed new name since they now have men's sports. Let's just say it's not going well.
In early January a new name of Mississippi Brightwell University was announced. This was pretty much universally rejected by all alumni, people threatening to stop donating, etc. The renaming was quickly paused in order to redo the process.
In the last couple of weeks another name was announced. Wynbridge State University of Mississippi. Since MUW is a public university the name change has to go through the legislature. Apparently this latest name doesn't have the support to pass so the renaming has again been paused.
They have sent surveys to alumni over the last year or so but apparently they didn't or weren't able to find anything useful info from those.

If RMC and NCC both win next week then we'll get to have a common opponent to compare RMC and Trinity.  ;)

Was getting nervous when it was 14-0 and ready to panic when it went to 21-0 and we had run 6 plays on offense(two 3 and outs) but our Hawks never quit, made adjustments, and clawed their way back in it to get the crucial win.
Now we become Brevard fans for one week.

Go Hawks!

Reminder that the first one is alphabetical.

Very exciting game in Montgomery. It wasn't pretty for the most part but our defense got the stops in the 4th quarter when needed to help pull out the win.
Maryville QB Rollins is a special player and I don't look forward to two more years of playing him.
Shout out to Casey Peppers who became the career tackles leader for Huntingdon.

Trip to Greensboro up next.

Go Hawks!

Oh well.....  The Hawks need to win the rest of the way.
Congratulations to Belhaven :)
Yall have a good week
keep the faith
Need to win out and hope that somehow Belhaven loses two.
Very disappointing outcome today. Just way too many mistakes and our offense was never able to put anything together. Belhaven pretty much dominating the line on both sides had a lot to do with that along with Blunt having a day.

Gotta flush it and get ready for another bug one with Maryville up next.

Go Hawks!

Solid performance for the offense and outstanding job by the defense by the Hawks in Lagrange today. Very large disparity in time of possession like in all our wins so far. We were able to cut out the large number of penalties from last week. LC's only score was 50 yd drive after a turnover and their only real drive of the day.
Back home against Methodist next week. Keep building and improving.

Go Hawks!

Surprised to see Brevard take down Maryville today.

That third tie-breaker was(and still is as far as I know) a coin toss, not scoring margin.

Much better performance for Huntingdon with the first shoutout in the series with BSC. Our defense was outstanding keeping their offense in check all night. Improvements on the offensive side are encouraging especially with the way we able to control the ball in the second half. BSC ran 9 offensive plays in the second half; 3 possessions and all 3 were 3-and-outs. The time of possession in the box score doesn't add up to 60 minutes but 42:37 to 14:52 is incredible.

Time to get ready for a visit from Guilford next week. With a 2-0 start they've already matched last year's win total so we will have keep improving to make sure we take care of this one.

Go Hawks!

Hawks I was curious as to what happened in Georgia for Huntingdon.  You mentioned mistakes snowballing and by the box score you weren't kidding.  At the 9:01 mark in the second the Hawks were up 20-14.  The next 5 offensive possessions are so unlike what you normally expect a Huntingdon team to do:

1 play fumble and the ensuing drive led to a TD
Punt blocked for a safety
Punt blocked recovered by Berry at the 2 resulted in an easy TD
Punt blocked returned for a TD
Punt return for a TD

At this point there is 7:02 remaining in the third and the score is 50-20 in favor of the home team.  That is 17 minutes of game clock and a 36 point swing.  I know Berry played a hand in that but I can't help but assume that there were some self inflicted wounds by the Hawks.  If there is a coach in the USAC that will correct those mistakes it is 100% Coach  Turk.  BSU has to go to Montgomery and I know that they want revenge for last seasons game but I would not expect an easy victory if I was the visiting team.
Yes, I have no doubt that the punt protection and coverage issues will be addressed and taken care of whether it be by personnel changes, scheme, or both. That's the easy part. The bigger issues were with run defense and overall offensive production. 227 total yards with the two 4th quarter touchdown drives accounting for almost half of that.

Still ranking 7 again like last year I presume?

This one ranks near the BSC game two years ago. We were doing okay and were at a good spot in the 2nd quarter where if the offense could get something going then we might get some momentum. Then a turnover and then the mistakes started snowballing(3 blocked punts in a row?) and got ugly.

A lot of stuff to fix this week to get ready for BSC. Let's go Hawks!
