So the board outage occurred during a big part of the current MUW renaming events. I have a cousin who is a '70's grad so I see a good bit of the info on her social media. Besides a failed try at renaming the university in the 90's they are currently in a process to find a much needed new name since they now have men's sports. Let's just say it's not going well.
In early January a new name of Mississippi Brightwell University was announced. This was pretty much universally rejected by all alumni, people threatening to stop donating, etc. The renaming was quickly paused in order to redo the process.
In the last couple of weeks another name was announced. Wynbridge State University of Mississippi. Since MUW is a public university the name change has to go through the legislature. Apparently this latest name doesn't have the support to pass so the renaming has again been paused.
They have sent surveys to alumni over the last year or so but apparently they didn't or weren't able to find anything useful info from those.

Mississippi University for Women(Columbus, MS) is restarting athletics that was shut down in 2002 after severe damage from a tornado. They were previously DII and members of the Gulf South Conference but the article mentions the possibility of DIII. Not sure where they would go conference wise but with the way the USA-South has been spreading out lately it's possible. They are well within the SAA footprint but am not sure if they fit there(*-if the number I found for their endowment is right then nope). Possible travel partner with Belhaven in the ASW? They have been admitting men for 30-something years but didn't previously have men's sports and are planning to have them this time.

Not currently a DIII but used to be but could be relevant? Saw this article on Tuscaloosa News website http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/20150319/NEWS/150319538?p=1&tc=pg but don't see anything about it anywhere on the school's regular or athletic websites and schedules that I looked at still have non-conference games on them. Not sure what's up there but of course the Tuscaloosa News isn't known for 100% accuracy in their reporting either so who knows? Wonder if any other schools are thinking of doing anything like this.

General Division III issues / Wrestling anyone?

Found this little tidbit in the Montgomery paper today. Huntingdon starting a wrestling program next year. Might be some travelling involved as I don't know who else around here has wrestling.
