Not sure if I have seen this posted elsewhere so I will put htis here.

Quote
“We hope that a reduction in contest minimums will provide flexibility to our member schools as they work to reopen during what is a very uncertain and complex time. We understand this won’t fix everything for everyone, but we believe it is the right move at this time and we will remain flexible moving forward,” said Tori Murden McClure, chair of the committee and Spalding president.

Baseballs minimum is now 17 and Football 5.

National topics / Advantage Northern Teams?
« on: March 05, 2020, 12:23:17 pm »
I cannot imagine that many D3 schools would follow suit. However it would be interesting. How much of an advantage do you think this would be.

I know my son would have appreciated heated seats. I hope the bull pen gets them as well.

This is good to see. D3 players can compete against players from other levels. I wish them all well.

National topics / Clemente Cup REported on by D3Baseball.
« on: January 12, 2016, 02:44:24 pm »
This is a really neat idea. I am very happy for the young men who get this opportunity. This is part of what makes D3 sports special. THis has nothing to do with Flash and profits. Both the D3 athletes will benefit and Puerto Rican Athletes will learn more about a division of Baseball they probably know little about.

Here are the schools that I found that are competing.
SUNY - Canton
SUNY - Oneonta
New Jersey City University
Kean
Arcadia
Messiah
Misericordia
Sussquehanna
Penn state Abbington.

Congratulations to all. I am sure you will represent well.

General Division III issues / D3 philosophy
« on: December 06, 2014, 10:11:55 am »
On several boards there has been discussions about d3 sports and playoff competition.
Rock Jones the president of OWU, has a piece in a Cleveland paper about D3 sports. I think it is very appeopriate and states the D3 philosophy well.

National topics / baseball split season.
« on: September 13, 2014, 08:08:48 pm »

These are considered exhibitions, if I remember correctly.

This raises the question: why can't baseball play a split schedule the way tennis does?

Rather than try to play games in the north in February and early March, September and October would provide better weather.  Keep the number of games and number of weeks of play and practice the same, but have some of those weeks and games in the fall as well as the spring.

Right now CWRU tennis plays in September and then from March thru May.
ADL70 brought this subject up on the NCAC board. I thought I would post it here to see others thoughts.

National topics / Another season ends
« on: June 03, 2014, 02:31:58 pm »
Today Football moved to the top of the list on D3boards.com. This is always a melancholy time. D3 baseball is done, but hopefully most boys move on to play somewhere over the summer.

National topics / NCAA Concludes Study On Ball Seams
« on: October 04, 2013, 09:59:53 am »
http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/ncaa-concludes-study-on-ball-seams/

Most of the article talks about D1, But would D3 be far behind? They also talk about possibly going to the pro core. which would be problematic, because conferences sigh their own agreements with Ball manufacturers, and not all companies have a pro ball.

If D1 does it I would like to see D3 follow. But I would like to see wood bats at the college level as well.

Men's soccer / Soccer specific Stadiums/Fields

ONU is putting turf in their football stadium.

http://www.onu.edu/turfcam

In the article i mentions other sports that will benefit such as Soccer. OWU has its own Soccer field dedicated to Men's and Women's Soccer, Roy Rike field.

Wabash has Mud Hollow field, once shared with the Baseball field, but now a state of the art soccer stadium.

What other schools have dedicated Soccer stadiums?

General football / Football players wrestling.
« on: February 18, 2013, 08:28:43 pm »
This is not completely football related but thought I would ask this here anyway.

Back in the day (80's) many of the athletes that played football also wrestled, especially linemen and non skill positions. Today it doesn't seem this happens so much.

Of all of the people on the board who played Football or still are playing football, How many of you also wrestled?
