The rapid tests are relatively cheap - I'm not sure about any particular school, but standard in a lot of places is doing the rapid tests for asymptomatic people and only moving to the PCR if they show positive.  I also imagine, for state schools, they're going to be able to take advantage of mass orders that the states made months ago.

Yes, I agree. However, I'm sure extra funds are not available. I mean in the WIAC. Students are down, budgets are down, means not extra money. This is being funded by the state? Fed? I have heard each institutions receive a lot of money.  What's a lot? Million, 500 hundred thousand. If you take the money what's required? Testing? Giving back to students as covid relief? What happens to the extra money. My point is testing is great, but is it science or is the money just too good.

The other policy question is whether college athletes should get priority for testing over other groups of people. If testing supplies are scarce (and they are some places), then where should they be allocated? Should we be using the resources to make sure athletes can take the court safely? As much as I love Division III sports, I'm not sure that's the answer.

After several weeks of midday shows, we are back to our regularly scheduled time of 7:00 PM ET - and we are super-sizing the show tonight to make up for not being able to be on air Thursday AND the craziness that has happened in the last week!

Today is a day we celebrate those we love and for many of us that includes the student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and programs in Division III.

On Monday's Hoopsville, we super-size the show to cover everything that has happened in the last week while also trying to look ahead at conference tournaments which start soon. After all, we are just two weeks away from talking about who is in or out of the NCAA Tournaments.

Plus, we look at the latest Top 25 polls which will be released Monday evening and react to the men's poll which will clearly undergo some shakeup.

Guests included:
  • Jenna Cosgrove, Rhode Island women's coach
  • Jon VanderWal, No. 2 Marietta men's coach
  • Lance Thornhill, Fontbonne men's coach
  • James Wallace, LeTourneau men's coach
  • Keri Carollo, No. 7 UW Whitewater women's coach
  • Anthony Mason, Vassar women's coach
  • Top 25 Double-Take Super Sized: Akiva Poppers, Bob Quillman, Mike Rejniak, Ryan Whitnable

Platteville Associate Head Coach Marc Heidorf passed away after a long battle with Sarcoma. In addition to Platteville Heidorf had stops at Oshkosh and LaCrosse.

Just getting around to mentioning this, but listened to a bit of the UW-Oshkosh vs Green Bay exhibition on Wednesday...final was 83-51 GB, but UWO led 10-5 early on. For Oshkosh having practiced just 9 times prior to this game, with one of the youngest rosters in recent memory, this was a really decent performance. Said this on Twitter already, but watch out for freshman Sarah Hardwick. 6'0 F/C. She will be really good in the UWO frontcourt this season.

Whitewater hosts Webster while Ohio Wesleyan & Gustavus Adolphus will also square off in Whitewater.

UWO will square off against Washigton & Lee at Ohio Northern while the hosts face Berea...

Eau Claire is matched up with Whitman at the University of Chicago, while the hosts will play Northwestern (Minn.)

Similar to the Men's bracket,  Whitewater and UWO are on the same side of the brackets, however they are in different quadrants... Eau Claire finds themselves on the opposite side of the bracket than their WIAC rivals.

Good matchups for everyone in a year when the WIAC was more of a meat grinder than usual.

UWO wins by three after hitting a shot late in the game for a one point lead...  (They added a pair of FT's with no time left on the clock.)

Eau Claire falls in TRIPLE OT 85-81...

WARHAWKS get 24 points from Kaci Carollo and 16 from Abi Baumgartner, dominate the second and fourth quarters to beat the Webster Garloks 69-50.  Gustavous Adolphus crushed Ohio Wesleyan in the other game.  The two winners meet tonight.
