JB Wells has been active on Twitter these past few days, engaging with posts re: the incoming Bates class. I wonder if he has landed on his feet in Lewiston?

Was talking to an active poster on this site today ... has the coach of the year ever gone to a coach who did not win the NESCAC?  EVER?  Nothing against Trinity, but I would've given high consideration to the coach from Tufts.  Taking nothing away from the Trinity coach but it is a helluva lot easier to repeat than it is to take a program from the depths and build it.

Mark Harriman was Co-Coach of the year with Devanney in 2012. Bobcats went 5-3 (best record since 1981) and Trinity went 8-0.

Bates should be revealing some long overdue new threads this season. The design is similar to the Northwestern uniforms, but obviously with a Garnet/Black/White color scheme.

nescac1 - sorry, my trolling is hard to convey over the internet.

Aaron Kelton is OUT at Shorter. Wonder if any of the local openings give him a look...

Ben Martin out of Union will definitely be in the mix for the HC job at Endicott. A former Trinity O-lineman (sound familiar Gulls fans?), he has been at Union for 2 years and preceded that with stints in the NFL and at Texas A&M. He is a North Shore guy to boot, so keep your eyes out for this guy taking the reigns for the Gulls next year.

If Michaeles is in fact OUT at Colby - one name to keep an eye on for the job is Union College OC Ben Martin. He has been a huge part of their turnaround this year and would for sure solve a lot of their woes on offense. The Trinity grad has been at Union for the past 2 seasons and before that he held offensive coaching positions at Texas A&M, Princeton, and the Miami Dolphins. This would be an electric hire and the guys up there would LOVE playing for him...

The U o-line is in great hands. Ben Martin is one of the best coaches in the LL and for sure has these young guns fired up and ready to pave the way for another killer year out of Kinzelmann.

Do not forget about Tufts! They just put down new sod earlier this summer, so the grass is there for at least another season.

Scouting report on Will Cotter, QB - Hackley HS: 6 ft 3 in 200 lb QB has a big frame, great touch, but not much zip and tends to get happy feet in the pocket. Big fan of ketosis diet but not too great at speaking into the mike (see today's PMT episode). Should be a decent player for the Ephs. For sure a locker room guy with lots of grit.

Harriman is not being fired this off-season. I've actually heard that his contract has been extended a few years - but we will wait and see. With a new AD coming in after this year, hopefully Bates will commit a bit more to the program and work with the team to hire some full time coaches to support Harriman. Their biggest flaw the past 3 seasons has been the lack of an experienced OC - they have not really had one since Weiss left for RPI just before the 2014 season.

The overall NESCAC coaching situation seems better than it's been anytime in recent memory.  Trinity, Amherst, Wesleyan, Middlebury, Tufts, all obviously rock-solid.  Bates as well, all things considered.  Bowdoin, Williams, and Hamilton all have new staffs that seem like they will get those programs moving in the right direction in the relatively near future.  I think in 2-3 years we could see a lot fewer blowouts and a very, very competitive league.

IMO..... the coaches at risk for being fired are:

Colby (Micheles)
Bates (Harriman)

But.... let's face it..... this is the NESCAC..... noone is being fired.... teams would rather go winless for 2 years vs actually firing a coach.

If I were an independent AD, Harriman would be fired and Micheles (despite all the Colby protests) would stay..........

Point 2.......  IMO only...........At risk of leaving for greener pastures:

Bowdoin (Wells)
Williams (Raymond)

Wells never signed up for the crummy academic support he's received.....

And Raymond and his staff are TOTALLY DISGUSTED with the state of the Eph team.  And that Raymond's SLU team was ranked in the D3 top 10.... well.... he's reevaluting his NESCAC move.

GOOD LUCK, Coach Raymond.

Agreed Dlip/Bartman! This is a new day for Union football. The staff was very encouraged by the team's play and knew they should have won the game. This is a hungry squad that is for sure going to surprise people in 2016!

Roll Dutch!
