Mr. Ypsi

Saturday:  JCU, Midd, Amherst, Eureka, NCC

TheOsprey

Sat. - Marietta, Williams, Hamilton, Greenville, NCC!!

Mr. Ypsi

Mr. Ypsi

First final:  JCU 99, Marietta 75.

In the 3 o'clock games, Midd and Amherst are both up big, late in the second half.

Mr. Ypsi

Williams came storming back, but fell just short - Midd 70, Williams 66.

Hamilton did NOT come storming back, and suffers their first loss after 15 wins - Amherst 75, Hamilton 49.

Mr. Ypsi

Eureka lead by single-digit margins for the first 29 minutes, but Greenville found a new level late and pulled away to a 111-94 victory.  Shea Feehan of Eureka scored 47, but got little help.

That's the final game of the day that can affect our relative standings, as EVERYONE selected NCC over Elmhurst (who the hell made up this lop-sided slate?! :-[)  At the half, NCC leads Elmhurst 47-44.  I expected a majority to pick NCC, but Elmhurst is a solid team and was hosting - so NO ONE selecting them shocked me.

Mr. Ypsi

Vindication for the slate-maker!!  Elmhurst 91, NCC 77. :o  I can't recall any game over the years where pickers were UNANIMOUSLY wrong. ;D

Now if only I had subbed UWSP/UWW for OWU/Witt (as I was sorely tempted to do, but chickened out), I'd be slate-maker of the year in a landslide! ;)

I'll have results up within the hour.

Mr. Ypsi

This is why I choose to do a week later in the season... so I can hit all the conferences that have been underrepresented.

CCC, USAC, and NEAC make their first appearance leaving just the SAA as the only conference to not appear this season.
MAC:F made it's lone appearance week 1, NEWMAC in week 2.
SCAC had made 1 appearance in both week 2 and 6 while SUNYAC appeared week 1 and 6.
UAA had three appearances spread over three weeks, ASC had four appearances over three different weeks. And naturally I'd include the HCAC which also had 4 appearances spread over 3 weeks.

Thanks for doing that, Griz. I didn't want to say anything, but I've had a sense that the slated games this season have not been particularly diverse. (And, without looking back at the games I selected during my week as slatemaker, I concede that I might have been guilty of slating the usual suspects as well.)

And I like the new year's week when I can choose among top inter-regional games.

Well, although I'm guilty of having a WIAC and CCIW team in the first week, in my defense, it wasn't a big name team in either conference. I had ranked CMS at Platteville (not knowing preseason AA Scarlett was missing) and the lone independent against CCIWer North Park.
