UFC fans?  I have issues with UFC over the last few years.  It's evolved into a one-dimensional kick-boxing competition with a little bad wrestling on the side.  Gone is the BJJ specialist.  Gone is karate.  Gone is the wrestler first.  Muai Thai is no more.  Boxing, nope.  What was once an exciting, unpredictable amalgamation of fighters from a number of different trades thrown in a cage with a death match appeal has turned into sub-par boxing.

I drifted from the sweet science to UFC but now I'm back to boxing.  And Muai Thai, which when it comes to hard-core combat sports cannot be beat, in my opinion.  Not as elegant as boxing, but meaner and that, too, is entertaining.

Weren't you at some back alley smoke filled venue in Bangkok awhile back for a couple events where the winner walked away with a crate of chickens & the loser got carted away to some back alley "doctor" for his troubles?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Is it meaner than Pickle Ball?
As a result of heart stents a couple of years ago, I go to our rec center at 5:30AM 4 times a week.
The strength and conditioning area overlooks the basketball courts where they play Pickle Ball.
Not mean or very entertaining either but they can get serious ;D

You must have missed Khabib vs. McGregor.   Definitely a striker vs wrestler matchup.

Yeah, I didn't bother.  Was worthwhile?

Try underwater hockey! A friend of mine played once because she got kicked in the face and broke her nose the first time she tried it. I will stick with laps!

I thought the Football Weekly broadcast was at 7:00 so logged on only to see that this week it started at 6:00. Did anyone else happen to catch it? Anything of note shared?

All MSHSL playoffs games are being live streamed this weekend (starting tonight) on: https://www.prepspotlight.tv/MSHSL/sport/Football

Even the semifinals are being streamed for free. I guess MSHSL got the message that not enough people were purchasing it in past years.

Thanks for sharing the link.  Having lived in Excelsior for 6 years and now in Michigan, I look forward to watching the Skippers in action.

All World Augsburg wrestler Marcus Levesseur (155-0 at Augsburg and 296-0 amateur record) had a career in MMA and UFC. I am not knowledgeable on this but it seems like a death match to me!

He couldn't hack it at the U.

Looks like your boy, Owen Webster, started the season with a good tourney last weekend.

Ha! I see that now that you mention it, I forgot to check the results this week. Still at 184, looks like he is going to stay at 184. I see Dylan Anderson won it at 197; he moved up a weight class, no?

Early Prediction........ Augsburg wrestling takes it all this year.

I know the first guest just babbled on about the minutiae of playoff selection and seeding. :)

Only good thing about EP playing Tonka is that one of them will lose. That said I thought Tonka got a raw deal on the interception at the end of the 4th quarter. There's no way that EP had possession of the ball before he bumped into his teammate and dropped it.

The Eastview / Blaine game got postponed at the beginning of the 3rd quarter because of a power outage...Blaine up 14-2 on a 25 degree night...that had to be awful sitting there waiting in cold, wet gear. Will strap up again at 3pm tmrw afternoon.

St. Paul Johnson recovered from a 22-0 deficit to beat St. Anthony Village. Great win for a St. Paul Public School. Most of them struggle in just about everything these days.

Eggum said that Anderson weighed in at 186, so he could wrestle 184.  He looks good at 197, though.  Bobby Stevenson is probably at 197, too, but I think he sat the tournament with an injury.
