Quote from: badgerwarhawk on March 17, 2024, 08:06:11 PMThe Warhawks (9-3) got solid pitching again today holding Hunington (8-7) to just five hits while getting fifteen themselves in the 17-2 win. Husebo (2-0) allowed 3 hits in 4 innings producing just 1 unearned run while striking out 3 for the win. Hilker struck out 2 in 2 innings of hitless relief with McPherson, Dupor and Eisenbarth each pitched an inning allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 3 combined. Scolon with three hits including a 2B and HR drove in 3 runs to lead the Warhawks. Thies also had 3 hits and an RBI.  Jackson and Bennett each had a pair of hits, including a double apiece and drove in 2 and 3 RBI respectively. Koenig had a pair of RBI and Bogue, Gordon, O'Brien, Wessel and Padan all had single RBI.

PS: It was a nine inning game so I don't see how Husebo gets the win pitching only 4. But that's how the box has it. I believe the win should go to Hilker.
That would be the logical choice, but if the head coaches agree before the game starts, the starting pitcher *can* be credited with the victory even if he doesn't go five innings.  That's why you see an occasional bullpen game with a starting pitcher going one inning and ending up with the W if the offense gives him the lead.

Illinois Wesleyan 70
North Park 56

Nothing to add that I haven't already said over the past three weeks regarding this nightmare.
I'm sorry to hear about yet another loss.  It is very discouraging, as you had high expectations for the team this season.  Let's hope they can regain their touch and put together a string of solid performances.

Congratulations to Greg Sager, as he was honored (alongside four student-athlete alums) at today's Viking Hall of Fame ceremony.  He's truly the Voice of the Vikings, calling play-by-play in nine different sports.

On the plus side, this marks the first season ever that North Park has finished ahead of Illinois Wesleyan in the CCIW football standings (they were tied for second at 5-2 apiece in 1968). May it become the first iteration of an equally long tradition in NPU's favor!
Would that make it the new norm?

Final from Elmhurst: North Park 31, Elmhurst 8.  Congratulations to the Vikings on their fifth win of the season, the most for the team since 1968, when the Vikings finished with six victories.

North Park's season preview
It's a nice write up and it gives North Park fans (and announcers!) a lot to look forward to this season.

Final from Kenosha: North Park 35, Carthage 20. Viking QB Matt Eck threw 3 TDs to lead the team to its third win of the season, the most since 2017.

It's nice to be the lion rather than the antelope for a change.
It looks like this is the Vikings' first CCIW shutout win since 1992, when the blanked Carthage, 17-0.

Final from Indiana: North Park 27, Manchester 0.  It looks like this was the first shutout win by the Vikings since a 30-0 victory over Concordia (IL) back in 1999.

Congratulations to Greg Sager on his induction into the North Park Viking Hall of Fame!  He is well deserving of this honor, given his dedication to and support of all Viking sports and his work as announcer in many of them (and at times, two different sports on the same day!).  The ceremony will take place on December 2nd.

While watching the video feeds for the games, I noticed that the live stats play-by-play are ahead of the action on the video.  That's not the issue.  But at least twice now, the video ends abruptly before the final out is recorded -- apparently it is tied to the play-by-play, and when the scorekeeper wraps that game up, the video starts to archive.  Has that happened to anyone else?
