Quick Stagg prediction here...UMU 41, St. Thomas 17.  Teams seeing Mount Union for the first time generally don't fare all that well.  Unless St. Thomas turns the Raiders over like UMHB did last week, I see this one getting away from the Tommies a bit.

Good luck and safe travels to all of you headed down that way!

Well since I can't get to Salem - it looks like I may head over to Stamper's in Fairview Park to see the game. Got an email on the Mount Union server that several alums/friends are have gatherings for the game. The link is below (hope it works) in case any are interested.

It's killing me that I can't make it either, especially since I'm in fairly easy driving distance.  Got an email about a gathering here in Charlotte, NC and last I saw there were about 5 that had RSVP'd they'd be at that.  Unfortunately I've got a church thing tomorrow night so really can't make the gathering either.  But, I'll be DVR'ing it and watching as soon as I get home.  Hopefully I'll be able to avoid sneaking a glimpse at the score before the recording has reset to the beginning of the game!

Also finally getting a chance to watch the semifinal game this evening after I get home.  From the comments of others, it sounds like even knowing the outcome won't take a lot away from watching it almost a week later!

The hardest part about that is going to be avoiding moving ahead in the game to the last 3:46. I will say that watching the 4th quarter - with the surround sound cranked - will send chills up your spine! Especially the blocked punt. Crowd goes nuts!

No Salem for me either!   >:(

I could not get a client to reschedule a meeting for today or Monday, so I am stuck in North Canton.

Two years in a row....it's just not right!

If anyone in Stark County wants to gather, I will have the game on the big screen, with a few "snacks" and libations to offer.  Skunk & Jr. will be here as well.

GO MOUNT!

Caught the piece on the Tommies O-line
http://www.d3football.com/playoffs/2012/st-thomas-aims-to-be-known-for-offensive-line
Just curious but when did Mount get a title stripped: "The next challenge St. Thomas (14-0, 8-0 MIAC) faces is Mount Union (14-0, 9-0 OAC), a perennial power that has won nine national titles while playing in 15 of the past 19 Stagg Bowls."

Write-up reminds me of the old Rowan teams - a bunch of D1 and D2 transfers. Hope it works out the same way for them as it did Rowan. Roll Raiders!

I was hoping it would work out for them the same way it did for St. John's. The last MIAC team UMU faced.

In a similar fashion I was suprised by this quote in the D3football.com story on UMU's O-Line:
"He has simplified everything and it has helped in making the line play more consistent," Kehres said. "I think we are playing a lot more consistent up front this year and we don't make a lot of mistakes. We have been beaten on plays but it hasn't happened often. And when we do make mistakes, we have found a way to correct them quickly."

Isn't that a little backwards?  Wouldn't you hope that your senior led o-line would be more sophisticated than the last year?  Is this a compliment for the players or the coaches?  Wasn't there turnover in the junior staff - maybe this is a product of that, as the last guy's scheme was unreasonably complex?

Regardless of what the articles say or do not say, both squads are playing at the top of there game. UMU is physical, big amd dominate. If the cliche wearing a team down is true, we might see it on Friday - maybe from both sides as both squads are athletic. Looking forward to watching the line of scrimmage all day.

Ask Mary Hardin Baylor. Skill doesn't have to be complicated. and there aren't just five of them

Sorry after Gags trophy winner comment I thought I'd stand up from the Mount O-line. My money is on them. 24 hours till kickoff. 22 hours till Mtfan's burgers and wings

Less than 23 hours to game time.  29 points up for grab in the OAC Pick-Em.

Don't forget to get your selections in before you hit the road.

ESPNU rebroadcast from today...what the heck?!?!?!  You'd think they could do,some basic editing to improve the broadcast.  Multiple times, they would cut back from replays to the live shot after the snap had happened...including on two of the bigger plays of the game.  In the first half, they cut back to a shot of Burke running back towards the missed snap.  Then, on the go ahead TD, they cut back just as Burke is handing the ball off with the hole already opened up.  I'd be more frustrated if I'd been watching live and trying to follow a game whose outcome I didn't already know.  I also found it interesting that they never once mentioned the score of the UWO-UST game.

Anyways, great exciting game and I'm glad to finally have seen it.  Definitely has me stoked for tomorrow night.
