Side note... looking forward to watching newcomers (and cousins) Liam Mickle (QB) and JP Chaney (DE) represent AU in the Fall of 2023!

Hats off to the AU Spartan Football Team for volunteering their time this afternoon to pack (Feed-My Starving-Children style) over 45,000 meals to be sent to Haiti thru New Life for Haiti. The event was held at the newly established 1833 Leadership Academy in Batavia. Special thanks to the Chaney and Mickle (and those I'm unaware of) families for planning the event. As impressive as the Spartans have been on the field the last few years, they're even more impressive off the field as Coach Beebe and the rest of his staff invest time, energy, football intelligence, and most importantly, the Salvation message of our Lord Jesus Christ! It was thrilling to be part of a special afternoon. Bravo!

Well gee, after a little investigating, it turns out that the Wheaties locker room was NOT used as a urination station either by anyone associated with NCC or not.
The locker room is secured by two security personnel, and the door is locked with a key card necessary for entry.

I figured this was a hoax of a story from the beginning.

Given the seriousness of the accusation -- and it was definitely presented here as an accusation rather than as speculation:

To those NCC fans that chose to relieve themselves in the Wheaton locker room, on the players personal items... stay classy!

... I think that Thunderdog owes us an explanation as to his source behind this accusation, and why he found that source and/or the details so compelling as to make such an accusation in this public forum.

If this isn't a hoax, then let's hear from some of the victims and/or witnesses. But if this is indeed a hoax, then Thunderdog is in violation of the Terms of Service of this website. At the least, if I had been the person who had pointed my finger and wrongfully accused people associated with a particular school of this disgusting act of vandalism as though it was an established fact, I would feel compelled to apologize for it.

But that's me.

Interesting take Sager. I seem to recall far, far, far more serious allegations hurled at 5 Wheaton football players back in 2018... accusations that were taken as gospel on these very boards. Reputations were smeared up, down, left, right... don't seem to recall you accusing anyone of violating Terms of Service back then. But have at it... find me in violation all you want.

And One,

Well gee... sure sounds like your "security" personnel and key card are just about as "secure" as Brandon Biden's southern border. I stand by my original post.

??? Bethel ahead of HSU? Sorry but think the selection committee was smoking some crack or some politics going on.
Must have been the same stuff I've been smoking the past week according to some other posters ;)
Kudos to you FCGrizz. You called 2-loss Bethel even before their 2nd loss.

I don't see any 2 loss teams making the field as pool C teams. Too many qualified options with only 1 loss.

Question for the group:
When's the last time a 2-loss (d3 losses), entered the playoffs as a pool C, when that team lost their 2nd game in their final game? Anyone know?
I vaguely remember 'momentum' or 'performance in the final 2-3 games' as part of the selection process... or am I smoking something?

How I see it - UW-LaCrosse, Wheaton, Birmingham-Southern, Hardin-Simmons, and John's Hopkins or Bethel

This was a crazy day...

I'll go with: UWL, Wheaton, Birmingham Southern, Hardin Simmons, & Randolph Macon (based on SOS)

Dear Wheaton:
You're welcome!  ;D

Dear JCU... but also Dear Cortland and Dear RPI:
Many thanks, many thanks, many thanks!!!

WW, you really think a 7-2 UWO squad, with 2 losses to UWW and UWL, and a very narrow 28-24 win over Huntingdon... the same Huntingdon that lost the very next week 9-48 to Birmingham Southern... deserves one of 5 at large spots? Please explain.

THunderdog, I don't see an LL team getting left at the table if its 9-1 Ithaca or 9-1 Union. Both need to lose. I agree Hardin Simmons should be ranked above BSC.

Could this be a case of the region 3 committee being greedy? A strategic play to get 2 of the 5 spots? It could backfire as Birmingham Southern may never get picked, leaving HSU with no chance at the dance.

I'll throw my .02 into the pool C discussion:

Good news for Wheaton fans is the #3 spot (top at-large spot) in the region 5 rankings. Outside of a Wheaton collapse in Decatur, I don't see a scenario where Wheaton can get trumped for this spot. Although if Wheaton barely scraps by with a win and Lake Forest dominates Chicago, I guess it's possible LF jumps ahead of Wheaton in region 5. This would mean Wheaton would get 5 at bats to get an at-large.

Anyways... here's my prediction for pool C, in order:
1) Birmingham Southern
2) Hardin Simmons
3) UW Lacrosse
4) Baldwin Wallace
5) Wheaton

Birmingham Southern may be a bit surprising for the #1 spot. My reasoning is this... IMO, the best resume is Hardin Simmons. HSU's only loss is to #2 UMBH by a score of 28-34, a game in which they led 28-7 at halftime. Can't say I watched that game, and I know some have referenced that game earlier this year, but to me, a large halftime lead and a narrow loss easily qualifies as the 'best loss' of the season. Making HSU my pick for the #1 spot, but that's impossible since they're behind Birmingham Southern in region 3. I honestly have no idea if the committee would give the top 2 spots to the same region, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

UWL also get consideration for the top spot. UWL's 7-13 to UWW probably ranks as the 2nd best loss of the season. However, that is offset somewhat by the UWPlateville game. If UWP's QB spikes the ball instead of taking a knee at the end of the game, UWL could easily have a 2nd d3 loss and be out of contention.

Baldwin Wallace obviously needs to win against a very tough opponent in John Carroll to remain in contention. As things stand in region 4, the OAC occupies 4 of the 7 spots with UMU, BW, Heidelberg, JCU. A win over JCU makes them 2-1 RRO and a virtual lock for one of the 5 spots, IMO. GO JCU! No offense intended B-Dubs

There's no denying Wheaton's resume, per the criteria, ain't great. Low SOS and 0-1 vs RRO. I still think they're the last team in. Wheaton's 7-20 loss to reigning national champion NCC, a game that was tied 7-7 at half, comes in as the 3rd 'best loss' of the season. Yes, a case can be made to move that up to the 2nd best, and possibly even the best, but I'll stick with the #3 spot. It's possible this is all wishful thinking as Wheaton finds itself in a very similar position to NCC in 2019 (when NCC was the last team to make the field). In 2019, NCC got boosted by WashU sliding into the bottom of the regional rankings. I don't think Wheaton will get that added boost in 2021. That depends on the LF vs Chicago game. A strong performance, even if it's a loss, could potentially move WashU into the bottom spot in region 5.

The big wild card is the SJU vs Bethel game. A Bethel win, would move all teams down one notch as I think SJU would slide into the #1 at-large spot due to their victory over Aurora.

Yes, I understand than fans of regions 1 & 2 won't be happy.

Let the debate begin...
