Middlebury 62 John Carroll 54.  I wish I could have seen it.  No video.  No live stats.  Even the ongoing contest featuring the hosts provides only the latter.  Any idea if this was an unfortunate system breakdown or will tomorrow's game be unavailable to anyone without a ticket as well?

Congratulations to KJ Krasco's Panthers on their 20th victory of the season.  It had been 17 years since Middlebury women's basketball won 20 games and 23 seasons since the program advanced to the NCAA second round.  It was a solid team effort from seniors Alex Huffman, Coleen Caveney and Cat Harrison along with juniors Maya Davis, Kira Waldman and Betsy Knox.  Ten minutes of spot relief were provide by senior Ivy Houde.  Box scores only supply statistics.  Hopefully tomorrow's game will be available to online viewers.

Vandy74...we had both Live Video and Live Stats...not sure where you were looking but both were available and running smoothly.  Here is a link to the archived video - https://athletics.desales.edu/watch/?Archive=423&type=Archive

We will have both also available for tomorrow's game at 7 PM.

Game Thursday is at 5:30 pm.

I can't make this stuff up...it happened.

Sir James.

Here you go (all unconfirmed but should be correct).

1 - DeSales (10 wins)
2/3 - Del. Val. or Miseri. (both have 8 wins)...a Miseri win on Saturday does give them the tiebreaker because they swept DeSales.  Then DelVal would be 3.  DelVal would be 3 if Miseri wins regardless of a W/L to FDU because in a 3-way tie with Wilkes...Miseri would be 2 (again sweep of DeSales) and DelVal would be 3 over Wilkes because of 1-1 record vs. DeSales.  Wilkes is 0-2.
4 - Wilkes with a W. If MVille and Wilkes are tied at 7-7 MVille gets the 4 spot because they would have swept Miseri and Wilkes split.  Both were 0-2 vs. DeSales so it would move to Miseri.

As for King's...there could be a 3-way tie at 7-7 for last spot.  In that scenario all are 1-1 vs. each other and all 0-2 vs. DeSales.  MVille 2-0 vs. Miseri and would get the fourth spot.  So it does appear King's is eliminated.

Hope that makes sense...feel free to point out any mistakes.

Went to the St. Mary's vs DeSales game last night at the Hawkdome.  It was a lackluster performance by St. Mary's.  They were a step late for everything all night.  If the game were a bit closer I would complain that the refs screwed us, but it was not close enough to make that claim......
Fouls (smcm=20, DeSales 12), F.T. attempts (smcm=13, DeSales 29).  The game was not reffed like the HOME team was ranked in the top-10.  Not to say that they should get the benefit of the doubt on every call......but an even/fair game is an expectation and I do not feel we got that tonight.

SMCM was 16/25 from 2pt F.G.'s, but shot 31 3-pters to bail DeSales out and not take advantage of DeSales' lack of size.

With that said DeSales made plays when they had to and made some really tough shots.  Scott has that team playing with a lot of confidence, and the keep people out of the paint very well.  If you are not making shots from the 3-pt line it could be a long night.

The Hawks are now off for Final exams this week then play Susquehanna in Puerto Rico next Saturday.  Coach Harney will have the boys back and ready to go next week in P.R.  This team is not far away from running off a bunch of wins in a row.

If you dive into the stat sheet a bit more...you would see that 18 of DSU's 29 foul shots came in the final four minutes of the game.  When I presume, SMC stepped up its defensive pressure a bit (via full court press) trying to erase an 18-point deficit and thus fouled a bit more hoping the Bulldogs would miss a few freebies, the clock would stop, and the Seahawks could get back into the game.

Not sure you can pin that on the referees.  The other 36 minutes of the game, the foul shots/fouls are relatively even.

Dave - I am going to come to Jon's defense here for a second.

I think we must have different definitions of "Eyebrows raising".  For us that's when a team that's not historically good beats a historically good team.

Considering that St. Mary's (MD) is one of 13 teams across the country to win 20+ games in each of the last five years...I don't think they have any wins that are "Eyebrows raising".  I think a team with credentials like that has a legitimate chance to win every single time they lace them up.  No matter where the game is played.

Was it a very good chance for Alvernia to get a program enhancing win...sure.  But the loss wasn't even close to "eyebrow raising".

Agree?

Kate...I can't believe you are rooting against us vs. FDU-Florham.  You know are just as welcome to Billera Hall as you are James Work Gymnasium.  And the hot dogs are much tastier.

Besides that...you can also view the other Freedom semifinal on video tomorrow night - http://www.desalesathletics.tv

Great photos of new bleachers Bob.  I might forfeit my seat in the press box this year for a seat in the middle sections behind you.  I can taunt your stat keeping, :)

No worries Gordon...you have a lot going on these days.

Plus...depending on which school it is...school's web sites aren't always right.

Game is Wednesday Kate...always trust schools' web sites first.

CJ...consider it confirmed.  A Wilkes win and they are in fact #2.  Miseri is locked in at #1 and Wilkes is in no matter what happens today.  The other scenarios for today are below.  Enjoy the last day.

And CJ if the scenario in which DeSales gets #2 and Wilkes gets #3 happens at the end of today...you are always welcome to Billera Hall next week for some "Billera Madness",  ;)

DeSales Win, Wilkes Loss, FDU Win = #2 DeSales, #3 Wilkes, #4 FDU

DeSales Win, Wilkes Win, FDU Win = #2 Wilkes, #3 DeSales, #4 FDU

DeSales Loss, Wilkes Loss, FDU Win = #2 Eastern, #3 Wilkes, #4 FDU

DeSales Loss, Wilkes Win, FDU Win = #2 Wilkes. #3 Eastern. #4 FDU

DeSales Win, Wilkes Loss, FDU Loss = #2 DeSales, #3 Wilkes, #4 Eastern

DeSales Win, Wilkes Win, FDU Loss = #2 Wilkes, #3 DeSales, #4 Eastern

DeSales Loss, Wilkes Loss, FDU Loss = #2 Eastern, #3 Wilkes, #4 DeSales

DeSales Loss, Wilkes Win, FDU Loss = #2 Wilkes, #3 Eastern, #4 DeSales

The first-half of the season is complete with each team playing each other once.

Now we enter the first part of the important part of the season.  If playoffs started today it would be #1 King's, #2 Misericordia, #3 DeSales, #4 Eastern.  But the gap between 2-4 is literally just a few points on the scoreboard.  So a lot can and probably will happen in the second-half.

Enjoy the action...here is a link to this season's version of the Playoff Matrix - http://athletics.desales.edu/custompages/gen/Hoops%20Matrix%20Women.pdf?

CJ and others...I wasn't able to catch any of the Clippers/Lakers game last night.  And quite frankly ever since MJ left, the NBA hasn't really caught my attention.

But what I did do last night was update the matrix for this season since we reached the halfway point of the Conference season.  And since Wilkes strong start to the season has seemingly woken the Wilkes-Barre folks up on this board, I figured you'd all like to give this a quick glance.

Enjoy the second half of the year - http://athletics.desales.edu/custompages/gen/Hoops%20Matrix%20Men.pdf?

Ronk - yes she is injured.  I don't like to talk or speculate on length of time missed, so I won't start doing that today.  But I will say we are hoping to have her back at some point during the season.

And yes she is without question an immeasurable piece to our puzzle.  She doesn't score a whole lot of points but she NEVER turns the ball over.  She is a human press break and without her we have struggled to hold onto the ball (although we are getting better in that area in recent games vs. two nationally ranked teams - Muhlenberg/Kean).

Kate...was starting to worry about you.  No posts since December 1st prior to today.  Good to see you are OK.

And yes those Bulldogs are getting better.  We are still without our PG (Hannah Smith) but the other players are stepping up and getting better each game.
