It looked like it was going to be an almost instant replay of the Luther game finish, except the Dutch got the lead with enough time for UD to take it back and the 3 pt shot with 5 seconds left missed the mark.  It was a great game, but this time we were on the wrong side of the fianal score.

I can't get the WB site to stay up.  Trying to get it, but everytime it starts to bring up the go-knights website the browzer shuts down.  I know the idea of go knights is abhorrent to me, but I didn't know my tablet was so sensitive to that crap.   ;D

Bird Dog

Just looked at the standings and preseason picks.  All coaches seem to think it will be a dog fight.  Champion Loras seems to be getting little respect.  Simpson which had two honorable mention players last year is picked for first.  Veteran Coach and overly hot gym must be giving them the nod.  Simpson meets 3rd place pick Coe in Cedar Rapids, and 2nd place pick Loras in their first three conference games.  These early challenges could give and indication of things to come.

Need more posts on this site.  Doolittle Dog appears to be talking to himself.  Congrats Doolittle you niece had a good game for Iowa today.

Yea, Bird Dog is back!

I stopped posting because I was the only one here.

Despite their current 4-4 record...I think Dubuque has a chance to have a decent year.  Deep squad...but lack height.
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Good game shaping up at Wartburg, as #5 Wash-U leads the host (received votes) 34-33 at halftime.  Wash-U 10-0 entering the game, Wartburg 9-1.

Wartburg raced out to early leads of 7-0 and 13-6, and eventually led 22-6 as Wash-U had 6 turnovers in the first 9 minutes.  But, Wash-U closed the half on a 27-11 run, fueled by better defense and enjoying a bonus advantage from the FT line for the final 10 minutes or so.  Wash-U ended up with 10 turnovers, Wartburg 8...but the Bears had a 7-4 edge in offensive rebounds and a 6-1 edge in FT scoring.

Alyssa Johanson has 9 points at the break, Jordan Thompson 8, Melissa Gilkey 6.  Wartburg is led by Bobbi Burrows' 12 points.  Kasey Kladivo has 6 points and 2 rebounds.

Looks like it's going to be a fun conference season! Luther is off to a great start and a very exciting team to watch. This is a video I found of them from a trip south after Christmas. Entertaining stuff indeed.

Good to have a new poster here NorseFan2015.  Welcome to the board.

I love to see the turn around a school can accomplish in a years time.  Luther weren't in the basement for long!

Luther and Coe both win tonight to move to 4=0 in the conference.  It's good to see Luther having a successful conference start.  Not wanting to provide any bulletin board material but I will mention that Luther hasn't beaten Coe since their first game in the 2007-08 season.  That is 14 in a row for Coe.  If past history holds I won't predict a Coe win but I predict that there will be a snow storm.  The five times I drove to basketball games there was always a fill in the blank (fog, snow, sleet or combination of all) storm.  Anyone going to Decorah I recommend going early and visiting the Vesterheim (excuse spelling) Museum. Great Norwegian immigrant history museum.  Everyone raves about Mabe's Pizza but I like the Depot restaurant in West Union they used to have a Prime rib special on Saturday nights.  Enough rambling good luck to all.

Just caught Norsefan 2015 Luther team video from Jan. 9 post.  Great video those girls have a great repertoire of moves dance and basketball.  The coaches also bust some good moves.

Good luck to all.

Luther wins 76 to 62 breaking Coe's 14 game win streak against Luther.  Congratulations to Coach Nechuta, sorry I don't know her present last name and I don't have time to look it up.  NorseFan 2015 you might find this interesting, take a look at pages 54+ of this site please note It took her awhile but she is proving the boo birds wrong.  Norse keep up the good work, but feel free to lose to Coe and Dubuque next time.  I hope to catch a Coe game in person when they have the Alumni game.
