Quote from: Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan) on June 23, 2020, 10:02:40 AMObviously it's necessary for some content, but it's not like the days of scantron.

I wouldn't wish that upon the younger generation. I still have nightmares in which I blow the test because I failed to fill in each oval perfectly, or because my pencil was a #3, a #1, or a #4 instead of a #2.

Rest easy. There other number pencils would have worked fine. The softer numbers smudge easier, which can cause problems, but it's no problem if done nearly. Nowadays those things can be filled in with anything and the machine just read whichever is filled in darkest as the selected answer.

Nowadays, yeah. But back in the day, we were warned in no uncertain terms that there would be the direst of consequences if our yellow Ticonderogas were anything other than the prescribed #2.

It's both amusing and kind of sad how the anal-retentive exactitude of the bureaucratic adult mind can instill such weird fears in the young.

More Adrian commits that were missed:
6'9 Michael Williams from Fenwick HS, Oak Park, IL
6'3 Guard Mike Rightnowar from Genoa HS, Genoa, OH

You have a source regarding Michael Williams?  Fenwick HS not showing him as a player last year, but then I see him on Hudl saying he was a Sr at Fenwick.
Just his Twitter: @Michael71007338

Got it - thanks!  Updated list coming shortly

Agreed. But many professors have given open-book, note, and internet exams that are still brutal. Requiring students to use information as opposed to regurgitate it.

The 4 best tests I took in college (one administered by a fellow poster here), (1) did not test rote memorization, (2) would not have been easier if notes/open book were allowed. They purely tested concepts and their application. I didn't do great on all of them, but I appreciated how they were testing the right stuff.

Best test I ever took in college was in Pre-Civil War American History, taught by North Park's legendary history prof Zenos Hawkinson. (The school named its annual teaching award, which is chosen by student vote, after Zenos upon his retirement after teaching there for half a century.) He walked into the classroom on the day of the final, silently scanned the room to make sure that we were all present, wrote, "1861. Why?" on the whiteboard, and then sat down to read in peace while we all scratched away in our blue books.

Though, at the time you took it, I'm sure the class was called "current events"?  ;D

I had a similar midterm for my Europe from the reformation to the French Revolution course.  I believe it was four unattributed (rather brief) quotes.  I do remember very vividly, when we got the bluebooks back, the woman next to me had received a 12 as her grade.  Yes, out of 100.

In that vein, I can't think any former Reeths-Puffer basketball player at any MIAA school.  Anyone?
