Taking a look at the picture in this tweet, of Michael Joseph at the Senior Bowl. Dubuque may have new helmet decals next year.  Or, this could be a way of advertising for UD instead of just having a Spartan figure on his helmet.

Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Council Member David Resnick said Dubuquers have approached him about stadiums being too loud during some events.  "To me, and to many neighbors, hours and hours of blaring recorded music is the very definition of annoying," ... this isn't about games, but more about practices and non-sanctioned events, where some people say the music can go on for hours.
back in the day used to disturb the hood with the cars blaring during track practice...oh oh...moving in stereo

Story about declining high school enrollments and what it could mean for higher education.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/grade-point/wp/2018/01/27/higher-education-is-headed-for-a-supply-and-demand-crisis/?utm_term=.cd8f685de857

From the article...

A survey released last week by the Chronicle of Higher Education found that 52 percent of private colleges and 44 percent of public colleges didn't meet their enrollment goals this past fall.

Unless something unexpected intervenes, the confluence of current demographic changes foretells an unprecedented reduction in postsecondary demand about a decade ahead

The overall number of high school graduates, he argues, is not sufficient in determining the future for colleges. For the most part, higher education is a local market. Most students, especially those with average academic records, go to schools close to home that have a reputation for attracting close-by applicants. Far fewer potential students means these regional schools are likely to struggle to fill seats.

The consequences of what is about to happen will have an impact on schools and applicants. For a few schools in certain pockets of the country, it certainly means closure. While we're unlikely to see massive numbers of colleges going out of business, many colleges will need to merge or form deeper partnerships with schools in equally tough situations.

Something to ponder while there is a lack of football to talk about.

Wartburg and Luther are down 20% from their peak enrollments about 10 years ago. Wartburg is spending a lot of time at recruiting fairs in FLA, TX and the SW.

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

vs. Luther means it's a Wartburg home game (which is how we've had it listed on our schedule page for a few weeks), so your eyes should be safe. :)
