The Burg will be tested at Cortland but matchups favor the Burg.---By 12!!!

I hope you're right but I think it will be closer than that. Cards up by 4 or 5 before some clinching free throws in the final seconds.

Old School or pabegg:

Last week Stevens Tech was listed as having a 17-2 Regional won-loss record. They split 2 games during the week so why isn't their regional record 18-3 instead of 20-4 which is their overall record? NCAA also had them at 17-2 last week and 20-4 this week.
The 17-2 last week was wrong. (It was one of the discrepancies that I noted in my comments in the Daily Dose). All of Stevens' games end up being regional.

No clue, last week's overall record was 19-3, and if they go 1-1, that puts them at 20-4.  I see as well that their regional record was 17-2 and should be 18-3 now, but maybe they figured they were all in-region now...don't know.

edit:  missed pabegg's response...basically the same thing I said! lol  Sorry for repeat.

Thanks, pabegg & old school.

I was trying to figure out the 1st week who those non-regional games were against and the best I could come up with was maybe Middlebury. But that left 2 more and I didn't have a clue who they were. Now it all makes sense. 8)

Region 3 men's basketball / Re: East Region Rankings
February 21, 2008, 01:42:25 AM
Regional rankings came out today and as expected there was a shakeup at the top with Plattsburgh St. exchanging places with Univ. of Rochester. Everyone else remains in the same position as last week with Brockport St., Stevens, and Nazareth rounding out the top 5. Plattsburgh climbed into the 11th spot in the D3Hoops top 25 poll while UR dropped to 14th. Stevens nearly fell out of the poll, dropping all the way to 25th place. Brockport gained some more support and wound up in the 31st position.

Plattsburgh is the only school in the nation that remains undefeated in regional play. The next and final regional poll will be released on Feb. 27th.

Ursinus ekes out a tight one 82-75. Tied at 75 Ursinus hits a lay up with 1:03 remaining, and take control hitting 5 FT's down the stretch while Haverford goes scoreless, missing their last 5 Field goal attempts.

#8 Capital loses to Heidelberg 80-74

Ursinus scores with 5 seconds left to tie the game at 69 and force OT against Haverford . Both teams miss foul shots in the last 5 seconds to win it in regulation.
Ursinus now up 77-75 with 1 min left.

Lou `The Grand' learned it all from Pete Corey at Cortland in the 50s.  Outstanding player!

Wow, jdex I thought I was old! You must be older than dirt!  ;)

I didn't know who Lou's mentor was, but he had to have been a good one.

Nice to see Plattsburgh finally crack the top 10 on our poll. Some one else besides me had them ranked at #2. Still not quite there in the D3Hoops poll as they moved up 1 spot to #11. Equals their highest ranking of the year as the week 1 poll had them in the same spot before they fell all the way to #25 by the week 6 poll after back to back losses.  It's been a slow steady climb since then and their current winning streak now stands at 14.

You need to find Dr. Lou Lagrand and have him give one of his motivational speeches to the team. That would do it!!!

You mean the one where he put his fist [Ouch] through the locker door?

We did have our alumni game this weekend.  'Spoon came back.  (Only two-time D-III POY) guy is 45 years old and 50 pounds above his playing weight, but he can still play with the 20 somethings, shoot the NBA range three, and make a 55 foot bounce pass assist on the break.  Boy I forgot how great that used to be.  Barton, Connelly, & Turner from Elite 8 team were all back, all well on their way to successful careers.

Great to hear about Leroy. I used to travel over from Plattsburgh on a regular basis to see the Bears play during those two years. Talk about a guy who could do it all. If D3Hoops was around back then and they had an all decade team he would be near the top of the list. I remember watching him play as a freshman and knew we were seeing something special.
Dr. Lagrand certainly knew how to ratchet up the intensity. Defense was the name of the game with him. If the other team scored 60 points he was not a happy camper. His teams always ranked near the top in pts. allowed.

Got your e-mail and understand. Thanks.

And I think you meant Morrisville 25 and Oswego 12 on those called fouls.

Sorry I've been away ro the board for awhile...   Somebody explain to me (like I was a nine year old) to quote Denzel in Philadelphia- how Morrisville can lose in OT to the worst college team I've seen all year - Albany Pharm and then stay within ten of the Lakers.   Man I guess there is parity in d-3 hoops!!?? :o

Morrisville gives up about 80 pts per game. Usually resulting in a loss. Most of the good teams they play get up by 20 or 30 and then empty the bench. Lots of garbage time pts. get scored making some games appear closer than they really were. Hoisting up a lot of 3's will also skew the final score. The old live by or die by thing. Not sure in this case but I agree with you those two games  sure make you wonder.
