Family and I are plugging along in Florida.

I changed schools (teaching and coaching) last January.  We've had a tough start to our season 0-3, but are playing my former team tomorrow, so hopefully can get off the snide.

Kids are now both in college (FGCU) and that campus is like a resort.  All dorms have singe bedrooms with suite dorms. They have a resort style pool and a beach on a private lake.  I don't think I'd get any work done if I went there.

Looking forward to MTU beating BW this Saturday.

.
I heard LK said Plunk is the best he saw in 25 years.

FYI LK sighting at Westminster in his usually hang out in the corners of the end zones.

However he did have a wood shed meeting with the DT who was ejected during the several friendly differences of opinions in the second half. ::)

Thimgs are quiet did we get lost in the reorganization?

Sure seems that way, wish we could recruit more people from the ASC in general.

Weekly BigMark run down:

Grand Valley State vs UWL- Man what a tough game for UWL. I think UWL will finish top 2 in the league this year based off the first two games. Grand Valley just beat Colorado Pueblo who is always loaded. UWL hits a buzz saw here and gets beat by 31

UWRF vs Northwestern- Impressive win for the Falcons last week. I question how WIAC ready they will be by next weekend show down with UWL. It is good to see UWRF get to 3-0 for the first time in Coach Walker career. Falcons by 49

Stout vs Point- GAME OF THE WEEK. This is going to be one heck of a game. I was wrong on Point. I think Point is going to be much improved. I think Stout steals this one by 3 late in one hell of a game.

UWP vs Franklin- UWP get back on track here. They will be tested for WIAC play. UWP gets this one by 21

Berry vs UWW- Another good test for the Warhawks. Berry has two wins but not sure if either of them are "good wins". Warhawks by 35

I can not wait to get into conference play in two weeks. I will make my final prediction of how the conference will end.

I like the “another good test for the Warhawks” followed by “Warhawks by 35”.

 ;D

I guess that means a passing grade! It might be a bit closer than that. Some people I spoke with puts Berry in the category of Salisbury. Salisbury was actually pretty good. All in all, this is a nice non conference schedule for the Warhawks that will help ready them for the WIAC grind.

I remember a conversation with an Amherst coach who felt that a HOF was a mixed blessing because while it would honor a number of players it would, of course, exclude many others ...

If that doesn't sum up the NESCAC in one sentence I don't know what does!

Profoundly true.

Brings me to the thought there are some new posters on the board who just don't understand the NESCAC. No offense intended to the poster who suggested that schools should "open their wallets" to enclose stadiums and remove tracks around fields. I hope he and his son understood this league before committing. In the NESCAC they are not going to enclose stadiums to get more fans. The great renovations going on at Trinity will be the exception and as far as any school will go.

This is D3 and it's not Mount Union D3.
Lumber, brings me back to the 70's when I was looking at NESCAC schools.  Back then, it was obvious that the last dollars spent were on athletic facilities and most resembled modest high school venues. Facilities were barely a factor in the choice of college to attend, other more meaningful elements came into play as school were not diffentiated by their athletic palaces. These venues were good enough for Freddie Scott,  Jean Fugett,  Doug Swift,  and Joe Bonasera. Again, I'm not complaining about progress, but there was something pure about Pratt, Weston, and Whittier Fields and others.

Joe, if that's you great to have you back on the board polbear73!

NPU has likewise gone to a 2 pm women / 4 pm men schedule for CCIW Saturday doubleheaders.

Trinity 8-1

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I counted 72 on Trinity roster- I've got to be mistaken, what am I missing?

That new stadium will be a gem but tell me there are stands on the visiting side.

Moravian v Dickinson College
Moravian – John Makuvek Field
Bias? – I’ve been to Bethlehem, and I am a huge fan of the actor.

   This game is from September 4th.
   Dickinson keeper is a bit … reckless coming off his line.
   Dickinson trying to work the ball.  More effective than Moravian.
   Moravian struggles with the ball early on.  But Dickinson keeps having defensive lapses that Moravian pounces on.
   Dickinson midfield chases the ball … all three shift over to one side, then if the ball comes out quick, leaves defenders on their own.
   Dickinson owns a little more of the ball, but Moravian is growing into the game and is getting closer to the goal.
   Moravian center backs are vulnerable to pressure.
   Nobody seems to like the referee….
   Moravian keeper in suspect.  Would start peppering him from distance.
   Attacks for Moravian seem to rely mostly on two players to work the ball as best they can.  Don’t have the support and usually outnumbered.  One of them is skillful and works his way through the backs effectively.
   Lot’s of flopping going on… from both teams.
   16 minutes left.
   No rhyme or reason to how Moravian defends.  Some guys just fill space.  Back four plus three midfielders, but the back line doesn’t work in tandem with the midfield.  Kind of each doing their own thing.  Need to bait the midfield to move, then have someone run through between the defenders.
   If I had a dime for every time the announcer had to say “Ball over the top” when Moravian had the ball in the back and was looking to make a play ….
   Ok. Halftime at 0-0.  Will call it.  Maybe catch another more recent game for each.  If I had to call it now, I think Dickinson is the better soccer team, Moravian the better college soccer team.

Yeah I had a hard time with the ballot this week. Hopefully conference play can sort a few things out starting this week for many teams.

I think we all had the same hard time. And we all came to the same end conclusions...

We all agree there are three teams at #1a #1b and #1c.
Then a huge gap.
Then whatever order you have the rest of the Ohio teams with Franklin in there somewhere. Albion at 2-0 can be placed in somewhere at the bottom if desired.

Aurora you could argue placing anywhere from 5th to unranked. I just wish they put up a little more of a fight against North Central. But I'm not sure that any team on this list outside the top 4 puts up a better fight against the Cardinals. If Wabash had Mount, Wheaton, or North Central on their schedule, I'm not convinced they'd avoid a similar fate.
