The Marines came for a 3rd straight year this week to VWC for leadership and strength training, starting at 5 am in the mud.  It was punishing to say the very least.  Coach Macedo and Coach  Bonner also participated.  Don't know many coaches who would do this..Videos on Facebook at Virginia Wesleyan Men's Basketball.  A great idea for teams to get them ready for a long season. Go Marlins!

Congratulations to the Marlins on almost going all the way to the championship game.  Starting out the year with only 2 starters and some players with limited time from the previous season I believe Coach Macedo and the Marlins deserve to be be given high praise.   Stevens Point players have had 4 years together to perfect their game.  And they have.  They are remarkably talented .  The Marlins had a short let-down in the second half and it caused them to lose the game, but for a Marlins team to play so well after only 6 months of playing regularly together they were spectacular.  They were also the ONLY team to have to win 4 games on the road to reach the final four.  So here's to the Marlins!  You played your hearts out and you should be very proud of what you have accomplished this year.  Coach Macedo , your program is the best and you are the best coach in the country  in my book.   Congratulations on another fine season.

Incredible game.  All defense.  It's a shame someone had to lose.  Turnovers hurt.  Congratulations to Randolph Macon on a spectacular season and their 25game win streak.  Both teams are winners in my book.  Good luck Marlins in Salem!

It's a pity that VWC and RMC  have to play in the elite eight and are in the same bracket.  I would have much preferred to see them meet  in  the final four or championship game.  I have a great deal of respect for both coaches, players and their programs.  They do it the right way.  y_jack_lok, I would love to see you with egg all over your face, but Stevens Point looked pretty unstoppable last night.  They may have more talent BUT when has that ever stopped the ODAC teams from finding a way to win?  May the best team win and continue to win in Salem.  Of course I want my Marlins to win but my disappointment will quickly turn me over to cheering RMC to victory in Salem.  Let's hope for a great game tonight right down to the wire.  GO Marlins, GO Jackets!!!

I can't wait until Friday to Watch both RMC and VWC play.  Praying we both make it to Saturday.  I know Coach Macedo and Coach Davis like and respect each other.  It should be a very exciting weekend.  The Jackets have proven themselves to be a number one team and the Marlins are just around the corner trying to catch them.  They are two very determined teams and it would be super if either team could bring the walnut and bronze back to the ODAC.   Leave it all on the floor and may the best teams win.  GO Jackets, Go Marlins!!!!

While I don't agree with which Marlins were picked, usually 3 players from each team are chosen for all tourney, as was the case last year when 3 HSC players joined 3 marlins.  I agree the game was a dogfight but I think the refs called a good game overall..

The Marlins came out smokin' hot tonight and shot light's out the first half.  Marlins made 14-19 three's (73%) and led by 30 at the half.  The College of New Jersey made adjustments at the start of the second half and got the lead down to14 before the Marlins got back on track, scoring an additional 4 three's for 18-32 for the night, along with 15 steals. The final score 91-60.  Tomorrow they play a tough Newport News Apprentice team.  They are cross-town rivals and it is always a big game.  They will have to play at their best for a win, but the Marlins  have already shown real promise for a young team and I look forward to a great season.  Go Marlins!

Interesting fact:  D.J. Woodmore and Khobi Williamson both starting and playing for the same team  in Germany.  WTG ODAC!

Tough loss tonight for the Marlins as Mary Washington outlasted my Marlins 74-70.  We didn't play a good first half but the second half was pure excitement.  Mistakes hurt us the last few minutes but it just wasn't meant to be.  Thanks to all the seniors for taking us on quite a journey this year.  Sorry it had to end.  All the players from both sides hugged each other after the game.  Class acts both teams.  Good luck to Mary Washington in the elite eight.  Love to see you beat Williams tomorrow.  To the Marlins..Thanks for the memories, especially DJ Woodmore.  You gave us a great 4 years DJ, as did Trent ,Colby and Aaron.  You will be missed but never forgotten.  Go Mary Washington!!

Should be two great games at Mary Washington this weekend.  Of course my heart is with the Marlins but I wish all the teams Good Luck.  To all VWC's seniors: Give it your very best so your last season can continue a bit longer.  You CAN win this game.  Go Get EM!!! GO ODAC!
