Flittering thoughts based on literally nothing other than scouting a stat sheet.

UMass Dartmouth seems to have a really balanced running attack, with 4 players totalling at least 450 yards, and at least 5 yards a carry. Though it looks like Jean Marvens might be out with an injury, or moved to defense (he had an INT)? And they have a clear #1 WR, with Angel Sanchez averaging 140 ypg. And with a mobile QB, there's another threat as well

Defensively, they can get after the passer, with 32 sacks. It'll be interesting to see if IC's quick passing game can neutralize that. The Anna Maria game looks so out of place it's almost funny. They have a pretty good offense, but I can't fathom how they put up 63 like that.

IC looks to have the special teams advantage, as UMass Dartmouth doesn't seem to have a strong return game. They also missed 11 extra points, and were just 2-of-3 on FGs, with nothing longer than 24. Ithaca has had their own hiccups at time in the kicking game, but missed just one PAT, and Bahamonde hit 13 FGs, including from 45+.  And their return game has been top notch.

Look, I'm old enough to remember when we thought IC was gonna roll Curry by 30 points at home in the first round 2008, only to get outplayed from the jump and lose. I also remember the literal centimeters they beat Framingham by in 2013. Regardless of how long ago that was, I don't subscribe to the idea that the NE region is just there to serve as first round fodder for NY teams. This is going to be a battle. Ithaca can't afford a slow start.

(I mean, if Springfield's triple option comes to Butterfield in late November, I'll love it. But that's just long grass for you, not geography.)

Do I think IC is the favorite? Sure. I think it's more along the lines of 31-20 though.

does Hey Pride really still run the triple? Mike DeLong has to be 250 years old by now. Haven't thought about them in years.

Yes, they still do. Mike DeLong retired several years back, but one of his former assistants (and players) Mike Cerasuolo has done a nice job of keeping the Pride rolling along. They will give EC a good run for their money Saturday.

Hobart got in under the wire, so now there are 5 potential 7-3 teams in the hopper. Going to be interesting.

Declared teams as of today 11/6: https://ecacsports.com/sports/2017/10/24/2017%20D3FBFEST%20Declared%20Teams.aspx?fbclid=IwAR20AEBh-5D0DBKavLuZ1Yhe7EdCL1FInC-Aze2deymhgBrnSCVBtFNKsn4

Off the top I could see the following:

W&J vs. UU   Whitelaw
WES vs. BP   Bushnell
RPI vs. GCC   Chapman
FDU vs. MOR   Lynah

Looking forward to the OPPORTUNITY of getting the Bombers monkey off the Statesmen's back since Ithaca joined the LL. Hobart has not won the LL since the addition of IC. IC always has a solid team and has a 29-4 record against Hobart over the history of the programs. Those 4 wins were 4 of the last 5 contests played at the Boz. Krewson is totally motivated to defend the BOZ and there is enough talent on this team to get a win. Ithaca looks very good, but why did the Brockport game stall for the Bombers after the first quarter?  Both of these teams still have some young players that haven't had enough experience yet, but they also have some veterans that have been in some close contests and will not be intimidated by the importance of the game. Ithaca had a bye week and the time to focus on well practiced  game plan at the BOZ. Hobart had a great opportunity to fine tune the Offense and defense against Keystone as well as give some serious playing time to the depth chart that may serve them well on Saturday. I expect a very hard hitting game and unfortunately injuries often follow the intensity of a game like this. Depth will be important at all of the skill positions, and I think Hobart has developed some in the last 4 games.
So, I expect Hobart to be double digit underdogs(essentially due to the Morrisville loss), but I am not looking at the game without some confidence that the BOZ magic, the drive by Krewson, etal to keep in contention for the first LL title since 2016, will make for a GREAT early season LL game.GOBART!

Actually, Bart has 5 wins in the series, last coming in 2016.

Here's something I wrote on Monday for you LL fans:

I don't remember a LL season like this since 2004.

I think a Utica vs. Hobart ECAC bowl is pretty likely. Will see Monday.

The ODAC tried to do a "Neptune Bowl" between the first non-tournament team and Newport News Apprentice. I believe it was held one year, in 2019, then probably died helped along by apathy, COVID, and the fact that I think every ODAC team played NNA this regular season since the Conference is temporarily down to 7 members. I haven't seen it spoke about since, but the first game, in Virginia Beach, was not highly thought of, at least by anyone I know. Unfortunately the choice of opponent was... uninspiring... and R-MC beat NNA 35-3 in a game that wasn't that close.

ODAC would be better off doing a runner up bowl with USAC. A RMC vs. Methodist game could be pretty decent and a nice chance for the senior players to get one last game in.

NYS bowl is no more. As far as we know the NE Bowls should continue. Have messaged one of the conf commissioners to confirm. I don't see why they'd nix it as it's been pretty successful in the past few years.

Confirmed the NE Bowls are happening. Based on the below, my best guesses are:

CCC - If Husson beats WNE, they go. If WNE wins, Salve.
ECFC - Probably Alfred State which isn't exactly "New England" but neither is Gallaudet...
MAS - UMass-D (probably a host)
NEW - USMMA assuming SC beats CUA

Based on that, let's say SAL vs. UMD and ASU (bc they beat GAL h2h) vs. USMMA are the games...?

Add it looks like RPI just put in as insurance against a Shoes game loss....

Could see CMU at RPI if they both lost this weekend

Right now the bids are as follows:

https://ecacsports.com/sports/2017/10/24/2017%20D3FBFEST%20Declared%20Teams.aspx

Given the NE Bowl (NEW/ECFC/CCC/MAS) and MAC/CC commitments, the best resumes based on today would probably be:

Hobart, Westminster and W&J. If CMU loses to Case Saturday, they end up in here, but behind HOB & W&J who I assume will be 8-2. USMMA could be on this list if they somehow lose out in the NEW tiebreaker, but my guess is they end up in NE Bowl in that case, especially if CUA loses to SC Saturday.

Next level would be a 7-3 GCC and CMU (if they lose to Case). GCC beat CMU early in the season, so the H2H bump would go to the Wolverines. Brockport should also come in at 7-3 but may be they lose to Alfred after that weird loss to Mo State? If Saxons win they'd be a good 6-4 road team to send down to one of the PAC 8-2 teams. Utica should also be 6-4.

Maybe this whole thing ends up as a NYS-PAC round robin?

GCC at HOB
ALF at W&J
UTICA at WES

Enjoying the chatter here. There's no more Pool B btw and I think Region 2 really only has one possibility for a Pool C team (W&J) and that's it. Maybe Hop gets in, but they are a potential stretch given their SOS is going to drop and their OOC win is against 3-5 STE.

We are going live at 5 (how local newsy) on our FB channel to discuss it if anyone's interested.

All 3 games went as expected, although looks like Buffalo State made RPI sweat. Union appears to have cruised.

as for the Dr. Jackson stuff, I think I'd feel better if someone could link me to anything published with the administration side of the story, so to speak. Here and on the hockey forum it's just an anti-Jackson echo chamber. That's been true long before Covid. I don't trust that sentiment coming from a place of intellectual honesty.

Nope. BSU scored two TDs with under 3 mins left. Garage time.

Regional rankings will be interesting this fall given the new "alphabetical order" approach the Committee is taking for whatever reason. Definitely a departure from the past and maybe it's a PR move of sorts. Will certainly lead to a lot of speculation once they first come out.

USCGA would not but I guess it's possible USMMA could, potentially. They have put some things in place since the last time to protect themselves more from the last shutdown debacle.
