Sorry John McGraw, the fight that you are talking about was the next year.  And there was 5 basketball players supposely involved in that fight and they all went to court and 3 of them were found not guilty.  The reason Cassidy didn't play was because the game before that he got two technicals and by rule he had to sit out the next game.  The point guard did not play because he had the flu.

Bballfan44, that's correct.  I was at that game.  Caz got blown out in the NEAC Championship game up at Erie CC.  The game got ugly at the end with technicals being assessed all over the place, including multiple Caz players & the coach.

Hater,

Don't make reckless generalizations.  I don't see ANY Ivy league members in the NEAC.  If anything, being a strong academic institute would probably help athletics (and recruiting) with schools in this conference.

But Cobleskill is remaining a 2-year school?

I think their coach was saying he'd be a good role player at that level - a spot up shooter off the bench.  He's very smooth, refined and just knows how to play the game.  I never said he'd be a star at that level, I simply repeated what their coach said.  I wish I still had the e-mail to share.

However, like I said, he's the perfect fit for the Fisher system.

Baltz (Vestal/Vestal, NY) is going to be an unbelievable fit for St. John Fisher.  He graduated as the school's all-time leading scorer and gave a much more athletic, and talented Newburgh team a thriller in the state playoffs.  Their coach told me they thought he could've gone to a D-I school like Iona, Canisius, etc.

Nick Bennett joins Crean's staff
Posted: Sept. 8, 2006
Two seasons ago, Nick Bennett scored 27 points in an exhibition game against the Marquette Golden Eagles.

On Friday, the former UW-Stevens Point standout agreed to join the team he once torched. He'll replace the departed Tony Smith as head manager and director of basketball technology.

"Obviously the Bennett family name is not only huge in the state of Wisconsin but throughout the country when it comes to the game of basketball," coach Tom Crean said. "Nick is the next in line in that area."

A 2005 graduate of Stevens Point, Bennett served as a graduate assistant last season for the Pointers. A four-year letter-winner at Stevens Point for his father, Jack, Bennett and was a key part of the Pointers' Division III national championship teams in 2004 and 2005.

He's also the nephew of former Wisconsin and Washington State coach Dick Bennett.

for those interested.  The NEAC has a new & improved look to its web site, along with a new logo.

Region 4 men's basketball / ECACs

Keuka lost to Potsdam, 81-69, on the road.  They finished 16-10 this year.  And for whoever asked above, the NEAC is expected to garner an automatic bid beginning next season.

Region 3 men's basketball / Hobart Coach

I haven't seen or heard of anything that would lead me to believe Roche was/has been fired.  There's certainly been nothing mentioned of it in the Finger Lakes Times or Democrat & Chronicle.

Region 4 men's basketball / Short Stay for VJC?

So Pat, is this VJC joining the new conference a done deal?

Does anyone know what the record is for most players from one team scoring in a game?  All 17 players that dressed for Keuka Monday night scored.  I'm assuming there has to be somone who's had more at some point in time.  Maybe a Grinnell-type school?

I was at the 107-62 win last night by Keuka and I must say that's the most athletic Keuka team I've seen in quite awhile.  There's a lot of youth on that team as well, which bodes well for the future.  And there was little offensive dropoff as the bench entered the game -  the defensive pressure may have even picked up a notch.  Granted, it was a big win against a weak opponent.  A nice confidence booster for the younger guys on the team though.
