The good things helping Case and Marietta are very strong SOS numbers.  Case with the toughest schedule in the country and Marietta with the 7th toughest.  Both have similar records as well--which is the "not so good"  (ie 12 losses).

If Marietta doesn't win the OAC tournament, then a slight positive is that they hold the edge over Case because they took the season series 2 games to 1.

If I were Case, I would be cheering for Marietta to win the Pool A bid out of the OAC.

Interesting year so far, this definitely seems to be a down year for the Conference. Does anyone have the pitching to make it out the first weekend of the playoffs?

do you mean win a Regional?  there is only one weekend of the playoffs before the World Series.

anything can happen in mid May, that's still a long way off, lots of games to be played.  Once you're in a Regional, everyone has a shot.

Looks like Otterbein's DH at Capital got moved to Thursday, and Otterbein is still playing their DH with Marietta as scheduled for Wed.

Helps Otterbein, as now they'll have their top 2 pitchers vs Marietta's #3/4.  But then Otterbein has to play a DH on thurs at Capital, and another dh on Saturday vs John Carroll.

Marietta defeated #21 Wooster last night 13-4.  That brings the Pios record vs the NCAC to 2-1 over the last week.

W vs Ohio Wesleyan15-5
L at Denison 3-2 (10 innings).
W vs Wooster 13-4.

big news for the Marietta alumni....

Matt DeSalvo (Marietta, 2003) will be inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame, as part of the 2016 class.  Matt becomes the first DIII Pitcher to ever be inducted, and only the fourth overall DIII person inducted.  He joins his former coach Don Schaly, Tim Jorgensen from Oshkosh, and former ECSU coach Bill Holowaty.

I played with Matt, and as a Marietta alum, we couldn't be more proud.  He was a great player, teammate, and representative for Marietta for many years.

Heidelberg in a great spot in the Mideast Regional.  They will face #1 seed Frostburg St tonight; with a win in that game they would face the winner of the W&J/LaRoche game tomorrow, only needing to win ONE game.  Tonight is a BIG game for the BERG!

Marietta plays a must-win game vs Emory at 3:30pm.  A win would advance them to Championship Saturday, and they would need to win 2 games tomorrow.....so win ONE today, and TWO tomorrow; sounds like last weekend!!  Go Etta Express!!

Great job BERG!!

Marietta and Heidelberg will both need a pitcher or two to step up huge tomorrow, and hopefully those bats they had last weekend show up in GA and PA.
