Colby with 28 commits is phenomenal news for those looking for the Mules to continue to become more relevant in the league (and every fan of NESCAC football should desire increased competitiveness).
I love this news. I can't wait for the season to begin.

Agree- they mean business up in Waterville. The Mules have consistently been around 20 recruits in recent years. This is the expected result of the Cosgrove effect. The other Maine teams better get on their horse.

Colby's has 2 good ones-
Zach Cyr RB  BBN 5'9" 190
Marc Dougherty MLB 6'0" 230 New Orleans Jesuit

I know the Dougherty family. What a great kid and ball player. Jesuit plays in the New Orleans catholic league and faces great competition every week.
Yes Colby got a good one.

27 Tufts recruits, is that it or are they still waiting on others. How many do the NESCAC teams take every year?

Based on what's previously been announced via team twitter accounts, that's on-par with what Tufts brought in last year (26) but there certainly could be more and we'll find out in early May when the full recruiting classes can be announced. It's worth noting that Tufts' class is slightly higher than the average incoming class for the top teams in the league. Amherst and Wesleyan both averaged 24 incoming players the past two years and Middlebury averaged 22 (though they had 28 last year). Trinity had a monstrous 35 player recruiting class last spring, but had just 21 in each of the prior two years. Not sure where the Bants will finish this year but we already know about 22 commits.

It's never a bad sign to have a large recruiting class but, as always, quality is far more important than quantity.

NESCAC rosters are limited to 75, correct?

Trin9-0

Yes, there is indeed a roster limit, although I believe it's actually 76.

My comment was more in reference to the fact that it's good to have players who want to be a part of your program. For a school like Colby, who has had trouble meeting the roster limit in recent years, the reported 28 incoming players is tremendous news. Meanwhile most of the top NESCAC schools will need to make cuts to reach the roster limit, a sign that players are willing to commit to the school without a guarantee that they'll even make the roster.

Last year Trinity's roster included 28 freshmen, 20 sophomores, and 13 juniors while they graduate 15 seniors. With an incoming class of, at least, 22 players there will again be some tough decisions in Hartford come September.

The head coaching vacancy at Allegheny created when BJ Hammer left for Bowdoin has been filled by Trinity alum Rich Nagy, Class of '87. He was most recently the DC at Old Dominion.

During his playing career Nagy was the team MVP his senior season and holds the Trinity record for receiving touchdowns by a running back and is 7th all-time in touchdowns scored for the Bantams. He spent one year as an assistant coach at Trin following his graduation.

Hope so too.

Just noted a QB from Holderness is coming to Hobart, but didn't realize the NEPS league has an 8-man division. Is that becoming / has become more common in the NE? I know we have a million 7-7 leagues here in FL but I wasn't aware of HSFB in the north being played with less than 11 guys a side.

The Maine State Association is putting the finishing touches on the creation of an 8 man FB division for 2019.

Here's a good list assembled by the New England Elite Football Clinic of their participants who have made commitments for the fall of 2019.

Good numbers for Colby (9) and Bowdoin (7). Decent representation for Trinity (6), Williams and Wesleyan (5), and Bates(4). Very light representation for Middlebury and Amherst (1 each) and none for Tufts. It is a rolling list so will be augmented as more names become known . .
