Nov 19 Olivet @ Wheaton
Nov 26 Hope @ Wheaton

Quote from: Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan) on March 19, 2024, 10:32:28 AMHope went from 91 points to 62.  That means the average voter moved one more team ahead of them than they dropped below them.  Not a huge movement, especially with four teams below them who made the second weekend.

Coe is the only team who passed them who didn't perform better.

I hear you, but I think what many Hope fans are lokoing at is a team that went 9-1 since the end of January, including wins versus #1 and #6, with their only loss versus #11

Figured I would take a look at how our "recruit" list (incoming FR and transfers) prior to this season panned out.  So here is a list for each school, and what percentage of their minutes, points, rebounds, and assists came from those players:

Team   Incoming   Recruits    Minutes    Points    Rebounds     Assists
Adrian   FR  60.3020.33   0.289 0.26
---   ---  ---------   --- ---
Albion   FR  60.1470.147   0.148 0.182
---   ---  ---------   --- ---
Alma   FR  60.1310.118   0.076 0.066
---   ---  ---------   --- ---
Calvin   FR  20.0660.065   0.034 0.092
Transfer  20.0620.05   0.053 0.037
All  40.1280.115   0.087 0.129
---   ---  ---------   --- ---
Hope   FR  30.1240.079   0.125 0.128
Transfer  10.0590.057   0.033 0.028
All  40.1830.136   0.158 0.156
---   ---  ---------   --- ---
Kalamazoo   FR  30.120.109   0.116 0.051
Transfer  10.0190.016   0.018 0.011
All  40.140.125   0.134 0.062
---   ---  ---------   --- ---
Olivet   FR  70.4640.469   0.489 0.343
Transfer  10.0030.003   0.001 0.003
All  80.4670.472   0.49 0.346
---   ---  ---------   --- ---
Trine   FR  10.0210.006   0.027 0.016
Transfer  30.3860.464   0.223 0.444
All  40.4070.47   0.25 0.461

Some significant numbers there and varying significantly between the really young teams with lots of FR contributing (Adrian and Olivet) and Trine with the transfers.

So happy for the Thunder - amazing season!!

Quote from: TUAngola on March 14, 2024, 09:05:05 AMHappy Final Four Day!  Can't wait to get down to Fort Wayne this afternoon.  Should be a large Trine fan base, I've read on social media that the Trine allotment of tickets sold out fairly quicky.  Also Trine has arranged for 5 fan buses for the students for tonight's game.  I read that those seats were gone in 30+ minutes.

Go Thunder!!

Sounds like it should be a great atmosphere for the Thunder.  HOPEing for a couple of enourmous wins for them.  Enjoy the experience TU - I know I have great memories of our trips to the Final Four - not only the games but the atmosphere around it all.

Quote from: Greek Tragedy on March 11, 2024, 10:00:25 AMApparently Overway got injured during the Trinity game? They really locked him down.
.
'Hack-a-Shaq' works well, especially when the player on the receiving end only goes to the line two or three times. Trinity didn't give a bench player significant minutes for his scoring. He had five fouls to give and wanted them to count. Trinity was fortunate the officials didn't see it that way, nor did they see the Ohio-like abuse from the Trinity fans as against NCAA rules.

Got to play these games in Michigan.

I know I didn't see the game but Hack-a-Shaq on a guy who shoots 75% from the line doesn't sound like good strategy.  Playing hard, physical defense (especially in the NCAAs where they tend to let more stuff go) is good strategy on everybody.

Thnanks KS - tough way to end for Jalen and the Knights.  Still was a great season (thus far) for the league!!

I was going to watch the archived Calvin v Trinity game, but it is PPV and we all know Dutchmen are, well cheap.  I was curious to see how they defended Calvin and in particular Jalen Overway.  Did he indeed get injured?

Quote from: Greek Tragedy on March 11, 2024, 10:00:25 AMAnyway, what's up with Brent Cox? Starts and plays about 20 mpg, averages a respectable 10 and 5 during the regular season. Now, he can't buy a minute. Something like 20 total minutes in 4 post season games? Ouch.

He is injured (not sure of the details) leading to him not playing much.

Just noted that Cortez Garland (who made the game winning shot on Saturday) played 44 minutes in that game!!

Congrats to Trine - what an amazing win!!  And now the chance to play in the Final Four at a location that is closer than any other non-home game you have played in all year!!!
