It has been mentioned that the league was "down" this year.  Indeed, apparently the players were down this year as well. No player was selected to an All American team for the first time in over 25 years.  Not even the Region 8 Most Outstanding Player was selected.  I guess we can conclude that the whole Region was "down".
Elmhurst did beat the National Champion back in December albeit with Trines big center not playing that game.

Thoughts?

Congrats to HS on their win.  The guys announcing the game called them Hamden, totally ignoring the letter P.  Is that how it is really pronounced , or were they just not enunciating?

I have no idea how to look this up, but it sure seems like a long time since the CCIW got only one team into the NCAA Tournament.  If they had a "play in" game like D1, perhaps IWU might have been selected to play.

Looking at all of the quarter final games, I wonder why every teams offense is way ahead of every teams defense.

So happy for  Tyson Cruickshank and the Wheaton program for their success and his awards.  I remember watching him 5 or 6 years ago when he was a babyfaced freshman thinking this kid is going to be good.  He'll be missed.

The quad that Wheaton is in appears to be the toughest.  It has teams ranked #2,4,9,14,15,17,20,21, and 25.
Wheaton has a hard road ahead in its quest to get back to Fort Wayne; especially without Eli Considine.

Put Williams on the 2nd team and make Lewis the Sixth Man...he has started only 1 game.

Any videos of Ocean breaking the backboard or the game tying 3 for NCC?

I saw a clip of the backboard dunk on channel 5 NBC 10 o'clock news...so there's a video somewhere.  The commentator thought he had a great name, too.

Congratulations to Tyson Cruickshank for being named to D3Hoops Team of the Week.

Elmhurst was a 3 seed in the CCIW tourney last year...and ended up in the National Championship game.  Ya just never know.

Forcing your opponents into essentially twice as many turnovers as they average against all other teams is a pretty good defensive strategy.

When you put it like this, it's so obvious.  I wonder why more teams don't implement this strategy.  ;)

In seriousness, this is great analysis.  Thanks for sharing.

My question is why, if everyone knows NP is a pressing team, and Wheaton already played them earlier this year...why didn't Coach Schauer have a better game plan to deal with it. They tried quite unsuccessfully to dribble through double and on occasion triple teams all night long. Where was the passing?

An interesting stat from the NP vs Wheaton game: 4 assists for NP and 20 assists for Wheaton.

If Duke can promote an assistant coach to head coach, why can't North Central?

A quarter final score of 55-6 ?
Silly system

Epic game. Won, or in this case, lost at the charity stripe. Just my opinion.
Yesterday, Georgetown was 23/23 at the line and beat Villanova by one point.
Wheaton seemed to have free throw difficulty all year. I'd be curious to know how all of the coaches in the CCIW treat free throw "practice".
