With an apology for the delay....two more football players are presented on the social media Instagram by Amherst.  My guess for the delay is the person in " charge" was out recruiting.
Anyway...there is the 2-sport Defensive Back candidate from Houston Texas...John Ballard, St John's HS who plays football and baseball and is presently listed at 6'2" and 190 lbs.  From Whitley Young HS in Chicago, IL is Greg Franklin, a DL candidate who played on both sides of the line and comes in at 6'2" and 230 lbs and has a 4.8 dash clockling.  He is a standout in football and track....shot putter.  States he will go out only in football....expect the track coach to look at him too :).  Greg stated that if he went to Pomona, he would go out for both sports...in an interview...press interview.
Expect some more players to be presented since Colorado is not yet represented.

Hope everyone had a nice Father's Day!  Let's see.....NBA won by Cleveland, city's first sport's title in 52 years.  Come to think of it, that is more years than my marriage..by one!  Wife just reminded me that it is next Sunday :P.
Summer arrives this week and the US Open is finished with a first time winner...Go DJ! Follower but a terrible golfer....actually cannot afford to play much.
Just wanted to point out that most of Amherst's football coaches are at football clinics. Tweet today stats that there are clinics at Columbia, Dartmouth, Princeton and Harvard.  Even a specialist camp at Harvard!
Have not heard from an old Williams poster here in a long time...FrankU.  Was this your Reunion year Frank?  Was not able to get up to Willytown for the Amherst-Williams game...so I did not knock on your door to say hi.  I actually missed the Joint gathering this year in D.C.  Caught some of the game online in Annapolis, Md.  You have an invite to my class tent at the Game this year.  Sure some classmates would like to chat with you about the Darp...your "special" connection with the legendary Amherst Coach.
Saw a write up on the Trinity website wrt to the legendary Trinity Coach Miller.  Miller has his name attached to the Trinity football field.  I remember Coach Miller when he was the QB coach at Amherst.  A young coach who was an all-American QB for the U. Of Delaware that excelled in the wing T offense, I believe.

Hey all sorry for the disappearing act. I've been dealing with graduations and life in general. The opportunity to play early at a great institution is a draw for most parents. At the end of the day it's Williams! The 40 year plan is all that really matters. Football should be fun the next four years. I plan on being on the sideline for most games outside of the Maine travel 1st year. My boy is excited and looking to compete for playing time. These D3 programs at schools with historic success and the finances are easier to turn around than you believe. The middle of the pack in NESCAC will be crowded next season. This is why they play the game.

Welcome!   Nice to have another parent posting here, especially a Williams one in the new era.  What has been missing for awhile is a poster from Middlebury that is a parent.  Has there every been one on the football board?

First time in a very long time that Tufts is being mentioned as a contender in the pre-season.  Hoping they can continue and improve their rise as a program that's taken place the past 2 years.

GO JUMBOS!

Amherst has posted another player in its class of 2020.  Henry Atkeson, K/P Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, NC.  Listed at 6'2", 215 lbs and a  2- sports player.  Ranked 6 th in the state in Lacrosse, he played on a state championship football team In his senior year.
Some limited videos has him playing on both sides in football.  It is to be noted that the lacrosse team has tweeted on his arrival in the Fall :)

Amherst does have a great lacrosse program so I wouldn't be surprised if he played both sports if he can.

BTW, what's the status of the College picking a new mascot? I know the "Lord Jeff" issue started in 2015. Has there been any resolution? Or is Amherst just going by the College name, ala Prince.. or the artists formerly known as the Lord Jeff's?

ITH radio....An interesting and timely question.  There is an ongoing "committee" made up of alumni, former students in the class of '16, and staff that will propose a replacement "mascot" for the "Lord Jeff".
With respect to when it will be finished is unknown.  Amherst's admin stirred up a firestorm of sorts and the final numbers from fundraising that just ended on 30 June will be an indication/gate for what will occur in the future, IMO.

As a Hobart Statesman, I leave the naming of the mascot to the Amherst community, but if the SJW are looking to rename the mascot , why not advocate for changing the Amherst name all together? In the 1970's Hobart considered changing our name to the Hawks(more aggressive than a Statesman..although that may be argued these days) only to have it rejected as a symbol of the supporters of the Vietnam war. I wish you luck in resolving this issue...at least they have not attacked Amherst as a name....yet.

That's a good point.  IF he doesn't meet the requirements for mascot, how do you leave his name on the front door?  Which poses a big problem for a place with such a distinguished name.  Huh.

PolarCat

Until the town itself and the big state University across the street change their names, I think the College is safe.   But the LJ's probably need to move on, a la the Dartmouth Indian.

I think the Purple Plague could be just the ticket.  Certainly more inspired than the Big Green or the (Stanford) Cardinal, it embodies both the school colors and a reference to Lord Jeffrey's past that should please the anti-everything establishment.   8-)  Plus all the alumni who have entered the field of Urology could point with pride to their mascot's initials.

Bartman

OK, I'll bite...how about just the Amherst Pax...very peaceful..minimizing the micro aggressions caused by many of the mascot names in the NESCAC

Bowdoin has been showing their recruits on its Twitter page, bowdoinfb.  I guess I am getting a little cynical about hudl highlights as every player I've looked at over the past several years seem like future all NESCAC, at the very least.  Time will tell.
