Here are a few highlights form the UST/Cobber game on Saturday: http://www.wday.com/sports/football/4506400-early-miscues-help-st-thomas-rout-concordia-46-7

I know the Cobbers would like to tell themselves they just dug themselves a hole with those three early turnovers, but after reviewing the clip above UST generated those turnovers. It wasn't like it was a bad quarterback-center exchange, a bad throw, or anything like that. Dowdle, Mitchell, and Danhauer made amazing plays.

I think it's time for CC to move on from the triple option. They have the athletes to play with anyone and they are a top 20 team. I think they've reached a point where the offense is holding them back. Especially when they are playing from behind against good teams.

I feel that way too, or at least move away from it as having it all the time.  If the players you have are best used in that scheme, then so be it, but it would seem like they're under-utilizing skills at times.
Ironically they have an alum that made the Vikings roster as a receiver. Just think how underutilized Zylstra was in college. His younger brother is averaging 78 receiving yards a game for Mankato.

Exactly. And he had Griffin Neal as his QB.

Is Horan an offensive guy? Is he attached to the option or is there somebody else on staff that's the option guru?

I'm not sure. That's a good question. I took a glance at their coaches and I saw they had two co-offensive coordinators and a "running coordinator."

I'm not sure if this is by design, but UST seems be a little lighter on the OL this year. They're still big in the middle with Beck, Ruggeri, and Green all around 300 pounds, but tackles Rice and Wawracz are 273 and 268, respectively. I'm not sure if they are placing more of an emphasis on athleticism over size or if they are adapting to new defensive schemes. Whatever the case, they are working pretty well together and have only given up two sacks all season. Perra has had all day to throw. This time last year, the OL gave up 11 sacks. The running game has looked pretty good too. I was impressed to see Parks running well between the tackles against Concordia. His 38 yard TD run was right up the middle.

We got a glimpse of how good UST can be this season and it was fun to watch. UST looks pretty good all around, with the exception of the backup QB position. I feel like the offense just doesn't move as well when Perra is out of the game. Jones has had some time with the 1's, but he looks average at best running the offense. It may be time to move on and see what you have with guys like Frankl, Nolan, or the freshman QB from Loyola Academy who was highly recruited.

I saw that Josh Parks is listed as a senior this year. If my memory serves me correctly, I thought he had one more year of eligibility?

Josh Parks is a junior.

He's listed as a senior on the roster. Just wondering if he's planning to come back next season.

Jacques Perra has looked great. He's made a huge step forward this year. The OL is also giving him plenty of time to throw the ball.

Mark Dowdle is an animal. I love his energy.

Shea Gerrety has 4 interceptions.
