I won't drink anything people think you should add fruit or candy to, except for a slice of lime in a gin & tonic. No zima. No corona. And no poofters.

I was just about to moderate my declaration and say that citrus fruits are the exception to my fruit drink rule but the citrus is always in moderation.

But then I click that link and see bacon infused vodka.  Bacon?  I love bacon but it's over exposed. It's everywhere. In everything. It's like a great song that has been played on the radio too many times and now you're sick of it.

I'm expanding my exclusion. Any alcoholic drink that people add non-citrus fruit to, or candy, or BACON!!! is off my list.

I think I've expressed my views on beer and fruit.  If it needs a piece of fruit, it's a bad beer.  Corona is just disgusting.  It takes more than a slice of lime to cover up that crap.

Now fruit in a cocktail is another story.  I can't think of many things that are more refreshing than a G&T.  Mojitos, too, are delicious.  We took the kids strawberry picking this weekend and came home with 11 lbs of berries.  I picked some fresh mint from the garden and whipped up some great strawberry mojitos for the Mrs. and myself!

A good Spanish sangria loaded with fruit is wonderful on hot summer days. I don't have much use for fruit in beer, though I'm nowhere near the beer connoisseur you guys are. But I think there are a lot of mixed drinks that can benefit from either the sweetness of a piece of fruit, or the tang of a sharp acidic addition. On the other hand, there are a lot of drinks where it seems the sweetness is used to completely cover the taste of the alcohol, ruining the experience.

I've had the thought before though: that marketing campaign is an all-timer. Better than anything Miller, Coors, or Bud has ever come up with in my opinion.

This is from a story on the St Thomas football site: "St. Thomas' preseason roster is expected to include approximately 90 returners, 45 incoming freshmen, and four impact transfers." We know the Iowa state QB but does anyone know who the other three impact transfers are?

I was going to ask the same question. I'm excited to see who some of these guys are. Can't wait for the season to start!

How many non-impact transfers?

Changing gears, how in the world can Lindy's preseason poll and Streets and Smiths' poll differ so much outside the top 3?  Lindy's doesn't have UWW or UWO in the top 10.  In addition, Lindy's ranks 4 teams from out East that aren't on Streets and Smith's listing.  Only six common teams between the two polls.

Not much to talk about these days, but certainly the differences in those rankings give us something to debate.

Ha!  The thought occurred to me that anyone who has to tell you that they are an impact transfer is not an impact transfer.

We're big on the homemade limoncello. Lemon zest infused for 8 weeks with vodka and everclear. Served cold shots out of the freezer ... darn near perfect and a whole lot better than mango/grapefruit/watermelon beer.
