they could also cut the playoff field in half and shave off a week. 32 teams is great, but for one unusual season there's no reason they couldn't cut it to 16

Gov. DeSantis also labors under the misperception that young people are seemingly immune. And Florida's aggressive reopening has led to a spike in rates and a plateauing of deaths. So there's that.

most amazing mount game since the one against wesley when joe callahan was the QB.

legitimate question: how is it that north central got just a #4 seed? 5th in the country in both polls, lost only to a #1 seed in a game that was tied going into the 4th quarter.

NC should be the top #2 seed overall

the side of the bracket opposite mount union is loaded with name programs, but i don't think any of the top teams has anything close to as difficult a second game as (likely) north central at mount.

you know, fulford may not be the greatest mount QB ever, but if he had been able to stay healthy throughout his mount career he could now be chasing a fourth straight championship.

in 2016, with its third-string QB, mount loses to MHB in the semifinals 14-12. that QB, dom davis, was 9-23 for 63 yards and 3 INT. in 5 games fulford was 35-56 (62.5%) with 4 TD and 0 INT. MHB then beat oshkosh 10-7 to win the championship.

in 2017, with fulford healthy, mount goes 15-0 and wins title 12-0 over MHB

in 2018, with fulford clearly limited with a leg injury, MHB edges mount 24-16.

my QB ratings would be:
1. borchert (threw the prettiest and most accurate long passes i've ever seen at mount)
2. ballard
3. micheli
4. burke
5. fulford
6. smeck
7. rocco
8. adamson
9. bruney
10. jorris

taurice scott was terrific, but gets docked for not having played the position long enough

wait. how can mount dominate the #12 team in the country, on the road, and lose ground in the D3 poll? when that #12 team is still #12? sure, MHB crushed howard payne, but HP also lost by 45 a week ago to hardin simmons.

inexplicable.

the term 'political correctness' always seems to get trotted out by people to describe decisions they disagree with. i guess it's out of the realm of possibility that mount union simply chose to do what it felt was the right thing?
#10
that i can heartily agree with. sorry.

perhaps the issue is more about the top-down nature of the decision by the church. i'm all for anyone deciding what they wish to believe. as a mount grad, i'm happy with the decision the school has reached.

mount made the correct decision, and calling it a politically correct decision is denigrating it. the philosophy of inclusion is one that a good many methodist churches -- including the one on campus -- agree with.

So I guess to the question I'm asking- are those games against Mount Union and St. John's necessary experiences to win the HCAC?  If so, then great.  Making the tournament is better than not making the tournament.  But if the goal is to advance, the mission is sabotaged before it even gets started when you schedule two certain Ls in your non-league schedule.

--------------

worked out pretty well for whitewater and oshkosh, and even for mount before it became the perennial contender, to schedule elite teams. the longer-range view is that scheduling tough teams helps you understand where you need to get to have a chance against them down the road, not in a couple of months.
