Multi-Regional Topics / The Undefeated and the Winless
December 08, 2021, 09:45:43 PM
We have a thread for the men so I thought I'd add one for the women. This is a list of teams that are undefeated or winless overall or just against D3 opponents in the current season.

General football / D3 Scorigami
October 02, 2021, 03:05:27 AM
Spreadsheet and chart

I've taken all the scores involving a D3 team in the d3football era (since 1998) and compiled this spreadsheet and chart.

What is scorigami? It's when a score that has never occurred happens.

There have been over 2000 different final scores in the past 2+ decades from more than 30000 games. Somehow teams still find new combinations on a weekly basis.

Fun facts:
Highest single team score:               105 Rockford (105) vs Trinity Bible (0) 9/6/03

Highest combined score:                  152 Guilford (61) @ Davidson (91) 9/13/18
Highest combined score (D3 vs D3):       142 Hartwick (72) @ Utica (70) 4OT 11/10/07
                                         142 Illinois College (68) @ Rose-Hulman (74) 3OT 9/13/14
Highest combined score (D3 vs D3 no OT): 140 Alvernia (56) @ FDU-Florham (84) 11/9/19

Lowest combined score:                     3 (19 times) Most recently: RPI (0) @ St John FIsher (3) 9/24/22

Single team scores occurring once:         4 Hamilton (4) @ Trinity (CT) (29) 10/10/15
                                          88 Susquehanna (88) vs Wilkes (24) 11/23/19
                                          93 Coast Guart (93) vs Anna Maria (24) 9/9/23
                                          97 St Thomas (97) @ St Olaf (0) 11/11/17
                                         105 Rockford (105) vs Trinity Bible (0) 9/6/03

Every individual score from 0 to 86 has been achieved multiple times except for 1 (never) and 4 (once).
Yes a team could finish with 1 point... but for that to happen, a team would need to turn the ball over on an extra point/2pt conversion, have the defense take it back almost all the way, fumble, have the offense recover outside the end zone, take it back into the end zone and be tackled for a 1pt safety.

Multi-Regional Topics / D3 Coaching Connections
March 16, 2021, 09:00:48 PM
Couldn't find a topic for this so I thought I'd make one. This is for former D3 alumni or coaches who have made it to higher levels like NBA or D1.

Fill out your bracket and see how well you did. Just post your picks for every round or a picture of a filled out bracket or whatever way is easy for you to post and me to read. Get your bracket in by tipoff of the opening game Friday afternoon.

General football / D3 Football Map
September 12, 2019, 03:45:07 AM
MAP

I was hoping to finish this before the season started but didn't make it. This is a map of every D3 football team. Each of the 4 regions has a different symbol, each conference a different color.
If you select a team, you'll get a link to their d3football page, athletic website, street view of the stadium (if available), and a street view of the campus. Street view is at the mercy of google so not every school is equal there.

A few things I noticed while doing this:
1) More schools than I expected play off campus. Some still walking distance away, some are miles away.
2) Lots of cemeteries either next to or across the street.
3) The size difference of campuses. Just knowing that some schools are well into the thousands while others are in the hundreds of students doesn't really sink in until seeing it. There's major universities that look like they'd rival D1 schools, and there's schools that if you didn't know where to look you'd never know it existed.

The map isn't perfect, I'd love to be able to choose individual conferences or schools to show but that wasn't an option. I only had 10 groups I could make so I split each region up and tried to minimize the overlap so if you only have one group selected you can easily see the geographic footprint of each conference.

Pick-ems, fantasy leagues, etc. / OFFSEASON: Mega Draft
February 16, 2018, 08:40:04 AM
Do you think drafting players is the most fun part of a fantasy league?
Do you wish there was something to do during the long D3 drought that is summer?
Do you wish you didn't have to deal with pesky roster decisions during the season?
Do you wish there was a game not run by Greek? ;D

If you answered yes to any of those then this is the game for you.  8-)

A draft that runs from mid-April all the way until November. No round limit. If the draft only goes 60 rounds? That's fine. If the draft goes 200 rounds? That's fine too.
Standard scoring rules. 3PM + Reb + Ast + Stl + Blk + Pts - TO - FT Missed
Once the draft is complete there's nothing more you need to do. No add/drops/trades. No selecting a specific game each week or a certain number of games. All D3 games count.

Should you be going on vacation for a week be sure to say so and leave some names. It's a looooong draft, it's fine if there's some slow stretches. But if you've disappeared for more than 4 days without a word then your turn will be skipped (it's fine if you've said you'll be gone but your list of provided names runs out, we'll wait a bit longer for you)

Any thoughts/questions/tweaks?
