LEC automatic qualifier:

Southern Maine Huskies
Located in Gorham, Maine.  Finished 27-1 on the season, 16-1 in the LEC including the conference tournament.
Conference: Little East regular season and turnament championship.  Defeated Plymouth state 63-31 in the quarterfinals, Rhode Island College 73-62 in semifinals, UMass-Dartmouth 90-66 in the finals.
Coach: Gary Fifield

Starters:
Nicole Garland 5"9 Sr, G - First team all LEC selection 13.1 ppg, 45% from 3, averages 6 3 pointers per game, 2.6 assists per game, shoots 43.7% from the floor, 79.4% free throw shooter
Erin McNamera 5"6 Jr, G - 7.4 ppg, 3.0 assists per game
Rebecca Knight 5"10 SO, F - Second team all LEC selection; transfer from division 1 University of Maine 12.5 ppg, leads the LEC in field goal percentage at 55.6% clip, 8.1 rebounds per game
Haley Jordan 5"9 Sr, F - First team all LEC selection; LEC all defensive team selection 12.4 ppg, 41.6% field goal shooting, 1.5 steals per game
Jordan Grant 5"10 Sr, F - First team all LEC selection; transfer from division 2 Franklin Pierce Matches Garland with a team high 13.1 ppg, 46.8% from the floor, 76.9% from the free throw line, 7.6 rebounds per game, leads the LEC with 2.3 steals per game

Key reserves:
Taylor Flood 5"7 So, G 1.6 ppg
Meredith Reid 5"11 Sr, F 1.6 rebounds per game
Stephanie Gallagher 5"7 So, G 1.8 ppg, 90% from the free throw line
Note: Nash Billew their most proficient bench offense (7.2 ppg, 3.3 rebounds per game) is injured and I believe out for the season.

They average 71.7 ppg and give up 54.2 ppg.  Field goal defense is 34.9%.

Key to beating them is get the starters out of the game early since they rely on their starting 5 so much.  Space the floor so well since all 5 can score.  Garland missed like 1 3 pointer in the semifinals and finals of the LEC so thats their clutch shooter.  On the offensive side, try to get Haley Jordan get outsde contested shots, and on the defensive side, try to get Knight & Grant away from the basket.  They will be a very tough out, especially since they have a great chance to play both rounds in Maine.  Do have some trouble against good defensive teams.  Only loss of the season was to Western Connecticut, during a stretch Western was allowing about 47 ppg, and struggled with RIC who had the best defensive team in the conference

Wheaton College (Ill.) Thunder (Pool C)
69.5 points per game
52.7 points allowed
41% team field goals
32% three-point field goals

Wheaton enters the tournament at 22-5. The Thunder finished 2nd in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, and lost 61-52 to top-seed Carthage in the CCIW tournament championship game.

Wheaton is coached by Kent Madsen (59-20 in 3 seasons).

Starters
G- Brooke Olson, 5'7" Sr.        16.0 ppg, 6.3 ppg, 3.7 apg
G- Jennifer Lee, 5'6" Sr.          4.6 ppg, 2.4 rpg
G- Breanna Bohlen, 5'10" Sr.  9.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg,
C- Maris Hovee, 6'1" Jr.           5.4 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 2.3 bpg
F- Hannah Considine, 6'0" Fr.  9.2 ppg, 5.1 rpg,

Reserves
G- Ellie Zeller, 5'8" Fr.              7.7 ppg, 4.7 ppg
F- Lauren Graham, 5'10" So.    7.8 ppg, 3.4 rpg
G- Moriah Reeves, 5'9" Fr.        4.7 ppg, 2.4 rpg
G- Maria Panaggio, 5'9" Jr.        3.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg

Wheaton is led by three all-CCIW players. Brooke Olson is the engine that makes the Thunder go. She led the CCIW in minutes played (35.56) and scoring (16.0). There's very little that she doesn't do well. Breanna Bohlen can be streaky, but when she's on she is lethal from behind the arc. Maris Hovee is a defensive force in the paint. She's very athletic at 6'1", runs the floor well, and is a good ball handler. Wheaton runs a motion offense, with a lot of pick-and-rolls for Olson; the Thunder plays almost exclusively man-to-man, and holds its opponents to 31% shooting (25% from behind the arc).
